I wouldn't hold my breath for that answer.Do you have personal experience with taking a 500 mile plus road trip in an EV? That was my question, do you understand it?

they are far more desirable for local use than CEs,,
if a person does it right they will never pay for transportation fuel again,,,
OK so, you have to buy an EV for local driving and a CE for anything other than that? Most people are not going to do that.they are far more desirable for local use than CEs,,

Yeah and don't forget to buy another car for those 'long' trips.Local use. got it//
Never pay for fuel again. got it// but you pay Electric. you will download apps (7 or more) to use your cards at charging stations. They will keep pulling $10min from your bank if it goes low.
But as you say....if you stay LOCAL....you can pay on your own Electric bill. Got it//
all I have to do is set up a small solar system with a small battery back up and charge from that,, it would also work for a back up for the house,, and if youre in an area where there a grid tie you can even get paid for the extra juice you create,,,Local use. got it//

EVs won't be more desirable than CEs until they fix their 'range anxiety' which is now a real term in the industry.

I havent been on a long trip for a few yrs now,, last time my wife just rented a car since driving her mom to texas for a 900 mile trip in a 1 ton truck seemed a waste of money,,,OK so, you have to buy an EV for local driving and a CE for anything other than that? A while ago, we were driving home from a long trip. The gas gauge was going below 1/4. We were in a rural farming area on an interstate. We saw a gas station and pulled off the road to get gas. The prices were sky high and there were 6 cop cars there with flashing lights and questionable characters milling around. We checked our phones and found another gas station up the road. Needless to say we did not get gas at the first station.Oh look honey, a charging station up ahead 2 more miles. But there is no where to eat there? We could be stuck there for 8 hours? Oh, lord I don't want to pull in there. Look at them fruitcakes huddled around. Are the kids still sleeping? why are the bathrooms padlocked? No water fountain? We can't drink warm Coke. Baby Ana needs cold milk!
You have an app on the tablet in the vehicle that lists all EV stations plus you can see when you are running out of range. There are certain states to avoid for long trips.I wonder how long the trips were and how stressful it is as the battery starts running down and what happens when your planned charging station is full or not open.
You progressive twit. Nobody said it can't be done, the question is was it worth all the unnecessary grief an EV will encounter on such a long trip? Biden will never force me to abandon my gas-powered car.we know EV cars are not for you and you hate them,, but why would you ask such a dumb question,,,
the amount of people that have gone on long trips us astronomical,,
I have seen one person go from san diego to florida and another go from canada to arizona,,
and yes you do have to do a little more planning and your route may be limited due to charging stations, along with t taking a little longer,,,
OH another guy went from florida to sturgis on a EV motorcycle,,,
the idea you may think it cant be done is beyond me,,,
all I have to do is set up a small solar system with a small battery back up and charge from that,, it would also work for a back up for the house,, and if youre in an area where there a grid tie you can even get paid for the extra juice you create,,,
thats being done by many people as we speak,,,
set up a small solar system with a small battery back up
the answer to whether its worth it is a personal choice,,,,You progressive twit. Nobody said it can't be done, the question is was it worth all the unnecessary grief an EV will encounter on such a long trip? Biden will never force me to abandon my gas-powered car.
A 'small solar system' is not going to give you enough current. You'd have to install a full blown solar array and have a net metering system on the grid in order to have enough to run your house and charge the car. I have friends that do that but they are still paying for the solar installation and their Tesla batteries.all I have to do is set up a small solar system with a small battery back up and charge from that,, it would also work for a back up for the house,, and if youre in an area where there a grid tie you can even get paid for the extra juice you create,,,

your ignorance is showing,,Sure. Go ahead. But I am doubtful any "small solar system" is going to charge a big 100KW TESLA battery. They use as much power as your whole house. Hence charging at night. There is no solar at night. you are not going to stack enough lead-acid batteries around your house to hold enough charge for even 1 hour.
this is my best guess right now with todays' technology. I could be wrong.
I'm still waiting for someone with personal experience to relate their story. You have an app on the tablet in the vehicle that lists all EV stations plus you can see when you are running out of range. There are certain states to avoid for long trips.
or you have a reading problem,, we have a 1 ton truck and instead of driving it 900 miles once a yr she rented a car for the trip,,Sounds like BS or Typo? Who the heck rents a 1 ton truck? 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton pickup is too much for you evidently. Why did you not rent an Escort or Impala or something? 1-ton is industrial or moving perhaps?
yeas you are,,,I'm still waiting for someone with personal experience to relate their story.
