Honestly folks how did we let this happen?

Or more so, how did it happen.

1. The NSA is spying on people with out warrant in violation of the COTUS.

2. We are assassinating people with out due process using predator drones some of them US citizens.

3. Changing law though executive fiat.

Now, it doesn't matter when or who started this but this is where we are at, how did we let this happen?

9-11 gave us the Patriot acts.

Congress gave the President authority to strike at will at the 9-11 terrorist and their supporters and any like minded groups. If an American joins their ranks I'm glad he's willing to blow them to smithereens.

All President have use EO's

Blow him away and any one close innocent or not.

EO to change, what democrats say is fairly passed law??? See excuses like you offer is why we are where we are.

SOP. And we didn't put any of our soldiers or pilots in harms way to do it either. Good call on the Presidents part I'd say. Fuck those terrorists and death to any American who joins their cause and fights against our country.

Delaying the implementation of a law is not changing it. Beside if Congress is so worried about any EO they have the ability to override it. But they might have to compromise and since that is a no-no for the GOP it's not likely going to happen any time soon.

9-11 is not an excuse. Congress giving the president the authority to strike al-Qaeda anywhere anytime is a law not an excuse.

It could be argued that the Great American Experiment worked too well, that capitalism has worked too well. We've become fat, lazy and happy, more interested in "selfies" and Kim Kardashian than in maintaining excellence. We've dropped our guard, we've dropped our standards, we just don't care what's going on outside our little personal bubbles.

So we let our "leaders" get away with shit like this. Who cares? What really matters is that I get that new iPhone.

.

If capitalism worked, there wouldn't be a $17 trillion national debt. The failure of humanity is faith in money.

Hey MO_FUCKIN_RON!! Got your attention?? Capitalism didn't cause the 17 trillion debt! Socialism did!! GOT THAT MORON??

Capitalism works -- but only when controlled by socialist regulations such as those put in place during FDR's administration. Our cyclical economy was healthy until the Reagan Administration commenced the progression of deregulation which continued through the Clinton and Bush administrations.

All that is needed to repair the damage is replace the controls which have been removed, beginning with the 91% progressive tax rate, off-shore banking restrictions, import tariffs, and savings bank regulations. And it is important to commence serious prosecutions on Wall Street to let those bandits know the party is over.

Like all politicians, he campaigned on giving us the moon too, Didn't believe him then either. But he was a better choice (imo) than McCain and Romney too, btw do you think either of those politicians didn't do the same?

Before the internet people relied solely on the MSM on the tube. When Cronkite lied people believed him. Now we can know better. So what can a person like the majority do? Paul has sued over the NSA spying and you see the treatment he is recieving.

Are you saying he was targeted like his traitorous father was? The ground we are standing on is that the drone war in Yemen is a continuing operation against al Qaeda and it's affiliates. It is completely authorized by Congress.

[...]
If you choose to ignore the most fundamental moral aspect of the collateral consequences of the drone attacks, how do you feel about the kind of simmering hatred they inspire? How would you feel if your child, brother, friend, innocent of any offense, were apathetically killed by a drone?

Is the kind of vindictive loathing these lethal "mistakes" engender worth the likely consequences? For every one "terrorist" we kill with these attacks, how many more are we creating? The things we have done and are doing in the Middle East are not abstractions or video games. We are planting seeds of vengeful hatred in the hearts and minds of a people who are vindictive, patient, and suicidal. That has deadly potential.

Are you saying that his assassination is warranted because congress said it's ok to arbitrarily pick American citizens or foreigners as targets to combat terrorism? Should anyone be held accountable for the death of this American citizen?

And congress doesn't get to skirt international law and give the prez assassination powers ina country we are not at war with. This rule by men shit is the problem. We've abandoned the rule of law in favor of the rule of elitist men. And apparently a lot of you are OK with that.

You asked how it happened. I answered you. So you don't like it and now I'm somehow part of the problem.

NSA spying started under President Bush.

Congress passed this in Sept. 2001.

IN GENERAL- That the President is authorized to use all necessary and appropriate force against those nations, organizations, or persons he determines planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001, or harbored such organizations or persons, in order to prevent any future acts of international terrorism against the United States by such nations, organizations or persons.

Is it interesting the reaction to the Russian and Crimea. They must stop yet we bomb at the will of the CIA.

The traitor who was working for al Qaeda trying to kill Americans, or his son?

There was nothing arbitrary about targeting the traitor. I fully support targeting. I don't support random attacks on groups of people who somebody thinks might possibly be al Qaeda. I also don't support follow up attacks on first responders.

Until al Qaeda declares it is no longer seeking to kill American Citizens everywhere and anywhere in the world, international law is on our side. Furthermore if al Qaeda is operating in a country that can't or will not put a stop to their activities, I hope like hell the next President will continue to attack them whenever they have actionable intelligence.

War Is Kind

Stephen Crane (1899)

Do not weep, maiden, for war is kind,
Because your lover threw wild hands toward the sky
And the affrighted steed ran on alone,
Do not weep.
War is kind.

If capitalism worked, there wouldn't be a $17 trillion national debt. The failure of humanity is faith in money.

Capitalism died in 1913 when we adopted Keynesian economics by passing the 16th Amendment (income tax) and established the Federal Reserve in the same year. Although we had plenty of minor depressions between the establishment of the Second Bank of the United States and the resurrection of the Third Bank of the United States (Federal Reserve), we never had severe and "GREAT" Depressions like those experienced under the Keynesian system.

A truly capitalistic society cannot decay to a condition known as a Great Depression, nor find itself unable to recover if it somehow did wind up in that condition. FDR had to enter a war in order to rescue his failing party's philosophy of the welfare state to restore some elements of the economy.

If you think Marxism/socialism works so well, why did the USSR collapse? What happened to Greece? Why is practically every nation in the EU suffering under incredible debt and resorting to austerity measures? Why do you want the United States to use these models that have been proven to fail countless times in the 20th and the 2st Century?

Btw, the debt is the direct result of having to burrow money we don't have in order to fund the Welfare state, which is completely antithetical to Capitalism.

Frankly, I think only no2 is a significant departure, and I'm not sure how "common" it is that US citizens are being killed. I realize we killed one cleric.
