Horrid Little Man Harry Reid Cancels Christmas

aside from the fact a budget was passed this past Dec, both the House and the Senate are required by law to pass a CR bill every year Congress doesn't pass a budget for the upcoming year ..

I think it's Obama threatening to shut down government if people don't bow to him and his illegal amnesty plans. He is more worried about representing illegal aliens from other countries than he is the American people. Not even the Dems supported his plans, so don't waste time putting this on the other party.

What a bunch of slave-drivers. Don't you realize congressmen need at least four months a year for cocaine & hooker junkets in the Caribbean? It's in the Constitution somewhere...or at least I think it is.
Corporations have to spend billions just to get them to debate a bill, us little plebs don't matter except in election year. In any other country it would be ludicrous that companies or individuals have to throw money at politicians just so they do their jobs.

I thought Harry Reid had eleventy hundred and five bills sitting on his desk. That's what I keep hearing from the Right.

Seems to me that would require a little burning of the midnight oil.

And why now, only when it's obvious he will cease to be relevant very soon?
Harry Reid has lost his job. It's because he is an evil slob. Harry Reid has lost his stupid job as the world's most evil slob.

Because the Grinch republicans are threatening to shut down the goverment again?

Dumbass.
Hey Crouching Stupid Hidden Moron, Reid controls the Senate, the GOP controls the House.

And it's the House's Boner thinking about shutting it down.

John Boehner may hurt millions of Americans over the holidays with a new government shutdown because he is still angry over President Obama’s action on immigration.

The Hill report that the House could act on immigration next week included and interesting tidbit,

Boehner has not ruled out the possibility of a government shutdown though he wants to avoid taking the political hit his party suffered in 2013 after a 16-day shutdown provoked by the implementation of the Affordable Care Act.

He said earlier this month that “our goal here is to stop the president from violating his oath of office and violating the Constitution.”

The media keep saying that Boehner won’t shutdown the government again, but if the Speaker is considering another shutdown, then it is possible. Boehner’s options are extremely limited. The Speaker can’t defund the executive orders. He could file another lawsuit and be laughed out of court. He could pass a meaningless resolution criticizing the executive orders, but his fellow Republicans want action, so it seems that his only real option is to shut down the government.

Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans don’t want another government shutdown, so the nation could be facing a situation where the Senate gets bypassed as Obama and House Republicans square off before Christmas. The odds are that House Republicans will pass a bill that involves some sort of defunding gimmick. The president will veto the bill, and the American people will be held hostage until House Republicans blink and give Obama what he wants.

Maybe one of you can tell me.... does either House of Congress require a quarum in order to conduct business? If so, then most of the Congressmen will simply go home and leave the few who hand around to waste their time.
As I recall, that is how the gop managed to keep congress in session so Obama could not make recess appointments.

Your recollection is incorrect. That was a pro forma session of the Senate. Harry Reid can call a special session for the Senate but I believe the Speaker of the House would have to call for it in the House. The President can call a special session for both chambers.

Actually, that's exactly how Republicans blocked Warren's nomination in 2011.

Reid is not talking about a pro forma session, but would call a special session, or not allow a vote to recess. Obama made several appointments during a pro forma session and the Supreme Court ruled that they were unconstitutional appointments.

I understand that. However, you were responding incorrectly to a question from someone else.
