How Old Is The Earth?

Engaging in heterosexual behaviour is also a desire.

You're right, and heterosexuals are expected to control their sexual desires. We can have all kinds of desires and fetishes, many of which harm no one, but they are still taboo and we don't demand society change it's traditions and laws to legitimize them. It only seems to be in the case of homosexuals and transsexuals that we presume they can't control their sexual urges.

They are normal people like everyone else.

Except, they're NOT really, are they?
Of course they are. Same sex attraction and coupling is prevalent throughout nature.
FYI, there are way more hetero rapes than gay people raping. WAAAYYYYYY more.

The Big bang is the centre of creation.

Interesting, since the current prevailing theory in Quantum theory no longer believes there was a Big Bang.

It is another theory. It is not the prevailing theory.

Well, since the 1920s Copenhagen interpretation of physics, it IS the prevailing view.

Now we could argue that Everything is a Theory. The very existence of reality is a theory.

"The Big Bang [or God] is the center of creation" is a conclusion based on faith but it is also affirmation that the universe is a product of creation. Why is one faith-based belief for creation different than another with regard to creation?

There is actual substantial evidence for the big bang. Look it up.

Over the millennia, the legend of a great deluge has endured in the biblical story of Noah and in such Middle Eastern myths as the epic of Gilgamesh. Now two distinguished geophysicists have discovered a catastrophic event that changed history, a gigantic flood 7,600 years ago in what is today the Black Sea.

I know... It is amazing when archaeologists uncover something from our past to confirm a story that many had proclaimed was a made-up myth to scare people.

It's kind of like how we've bought into this Darwinian belief that everything living must have evolved from simpler forms, ultimately, from a single cell. then we have a revolutionary and groundbreaking discovery of DNA. Every living thing is comprised of these DNA molecules which include intricate mitochondria and 16-bit coding for every aspect of what the organism is. Btw... a computer operates on 8-bit code.

We see things like atoms... which weren't even considered to exist in Darwin's day... We think, if we could just look into the atom and understand how it works, we will unlock the enigma and mysteries of the universe... but when we attempt to isolate our most fundamental elements, they defy our ability to measure them. They behave in completely irrational ways. Photons seem to make conscious choices to reveal themselves as particles or waves depending on if we are looking at them. If we try to trick them, they can apparently go back in time and become something they were not.

We see black holes. Our physics and math of our known universe apply to everything outside the black hole. We think we understand the black hole is happening as a result of a collapsed star. However, the principles of our physics break down at the event horizon. As material things approach the speed of light, time slows down. What happens when time reaches zero is what is happening inside a black hole. What does that mean? How can Time = 0 ??? Yet.... it's what we observe.

Yes, the universe is truly amazing and Darwin's theory, as improved and expanded upon as we have learned about atoms and DNA, has pretty well stood the test of time. We have all evolved from some primordial self replicating molecule.

You have some very strange ideas. And the Cosmic Microwave Background radiation is a fact. There is plenty of evidence for it, unlike aliens and Elvis being alive.

But to clarify on the aliens, I do believe life has evolved elsewhere in the universe. We just haven't detected it yet.

Why is your "creation" story more valid than mine?
Not my story, the world scientific community as a whole believes this.

But they don't and I posted evidence they don't. You want to refute peer-reviewed and published scientific evidence and cling to your faith. :dunno:

But we both believe in creation.
...You just believe that nothing became something for no reason and without a purpose, when this unexplained action happened, creating time and space itself... it did so in a precisely detailed way so as to create the parameters we know as physical properties in such intricacy as to enable the creation of carbon and oxygen within moments of the explosion and this just so happened to lead to emergence of living organisms which just so happened to thrive on the 92 elements inexplicably dispersed across a cosmos that didn't exist, on planets that shouldn't exist... and thus, it all evolved into a completely self-supporting system of which your profoundly intelligent wisdom now graces our presence!

I believe it is the work of an "intelligent force" beyond our comprehension.

LMFAOooo... MANY of Darwin's theories turned out to be BUNK!

Remember, when he came up with this shit, the cell was thought to be as complicated as a ping pong ball. We now know that is not the case. One of his primary observations in the finches was thought to be the cornerstone foundation of his entire hypothesis, proved to be incorrect. The finches had encountered a decade of drought conditions in which the finches with longer beaks could reach moisture and remain alive and pass their long beak trait on to another generation. Adaptation happens all the time in nature. That's not evolution.

The discovery of DNA spells some serious problems for full-on Darwinian theory. Some will argue our DNA is 96% the same as a chimp but that doesn't mean a thing... that 4% is huge. We share about 40% of our DNA with a banana... are we bananas? DNA tells the organism exactly what it is, what it will always be and what it will reproduce if it ever reproduces. It is the complete blueprint for what that thing is.

There are only 92 elements of which every atom in the universe is comprised. The real bugaboo is, the atoms in the universe do not account for the amount of gravity in the universe, which makes the physical universe possible. In fact, they only represent about 4% of what our universe is made of. Wrap your mind around that for a moment... Everything you see in the sky, all the stars and planets, all the things you know of and don't know of which comprise the physical material universe, only represent 4% of what we know is there. Spooky, ain't it?

Atoms and molecules act as predicted and tested over and over. We understand much.

There isn't any evidence of a 'god', and if there were again point out the one person who could then decide which god it were. The Big Bang, Evolution, The Theory of Relativity, all accepted truths. Might there be some adjustments as we learn more? Surely, that is what science does. It OBSERVES reality and changes our painting of it so the painting mirrors what we observe.

For myself I find it utterly puzzling how a human being can understand physics, evolution, and chemistry, archeology and the age of the Earth and the Universe, yet still believe there was a talking snake and all the other fables noted therein. And a 6,000 year old Earth according to even Ben Carson.

Its like the scene in Field of Dreams where James Earl Jones is about to cross over to the other side through the corn but is very hesitant. Because it is the great unknown and he is scared but his intellect pushes him forward. People who can't let go of a 'god' never get passed that fear. No reason to guess why it is mostly the uneducated that gravitate towards religion. It is because knowledge assuages that fear, ignorance feeds it.

These calculations result in an age for the Earth and meteorites, and hence the Solar System, of 4.54 billion years with an uncertainty of less than 1 percent.

Geologic Time: Age of the Earth

In your opinion, if this is/were true, does it necessarily "disprove" the existence of God, the Bible or merely the interpretation of the Bible and/or interpretation of what many Christians view as God?

I'm not debating the existence of God. That is a very different issue. It is strictly an issue of science disagreeing with the book of Genesis.
The Book of Genesis is not a science textbook. It is a story with mythical elements, to tell a larger truth, which is that God created Earth, all the animals, and man and woman who were made custodians of Earth and all the animals.

Science presents a theory that is scientifically accurate, but does not negate the theological truths of the Genesis story.

Both sides of this debate are wasting time.

In your opinion, if this is/were true, does it necessarily "disprove" the existence of God, the Bible or merely the interpretation of the Bible and/or interpretation of what many Christians view as God?
Lots of people, even ones who don't or can't believe any of the organized religion, still believe something must have created all this. Long before any of the modern day religions primitive man looked up and thought the same thing. And all this must have been made for him. I feel special too.

Now when did God first visit?

Excuse me? I can't be honest? When you state that "atoms and molecules act as predicted and tested over and over." it doesn't sound like honesty to me. Can you explain quantum entanglement? How about the observer effect? The double-slit experiment?

We'll figure it out eventually...

It's refreshing that you can be honest enough to admit we don't have it figured out now. If only you could act that way, we wouldn't have a problem here.

...yet still believe there was a talking snake and all the other fables noted therein.

Again, you allude to a belief in some story told by man as if this is the only possibility for an intelligent designer, Creator of the Universe or God. I can't speak for religions or what they believe. Science can't dismiss possibilities on the basis that religion may teach it or not teach it. The "God Did It" argument isn't science, it's a conclusion.

You know, the fact that this so-called "fable" still exists thousands of years later so that we can contemplate it's validity has to count for something. Right? You think you are the smartest mind to ever live or something? :dunno: Pro'lly so!
