In chicago, the problem is the GOP gave up the city a long time ago. They agreed with the Democrats that they'd get the city, the GOP would get downstate, and that would be it.

Except now people downstate are sick of the GOP and their shit, too.

The mystery to me is not why minorities vote for left leaning parties. It's why working class white people (myself included) voted for Republicans when they don't do shit for you if you aren't rich.

Only 16% of ethnic minority voters supported UK conservatives in 2010. Two thirds voted Labour and 14% liberal democrats.

Family income under $50,000: 60-38 for Obama (+28 among those under $30,000)
Family income between $50,000 and $100,000: 52-46 for Romney
Family income above $100,000: 54-44 for Romney

(Almost 60% of voters belong to families whose total income is above $50,000)

College Graduate: 50-48 for Obama

White 30-44 year old: +21 for Romney
White >65 year old: +21 for Romney
