I've been reading the book,"Alexander Hamilton", by Chernow, and it tells of Hamilton's youth in the British West Indies followed by his emigration to the Colonies in the early 1770s when the revolution was just a seed of a thought among the restless. Only it wasn't a revolution for independence just yet. As I read, I can't help but see a sort of similarity with BLM in that the powers that be were deaf to pleas of justice and only paid attention when violence occurred or it cost English merchants money. I'm only within the first hundred pages, and still have a long way to go. The young Hamilton was a sympathizer and an abolitionist but was concerned that the unruly crowds of Colonists would go too far, as did the Citizens of the French Revolution in later years. In our current state, there ARE black leaders and victims families who understand and support the cause while literally begging for restraint, but nobody listens to them. Not the hotheads of the movement or the hotheads who oppose the movement. So I got a solution...Everybody go home an read up on our FF. Not the mythological, divinely decisive Founders, but the very fallible human Conventioners who fought and argued and demanded and compromised until they forged together a path to nationhood, to be revised occasionally, to grow as the nation grows.
