The British Isles are closest to Europe. It's more complicated for Iceland.

But Europe is not really a continent, as it's separated by mountains on one side. The notion was invented by the Greeks, who were unaware of the southern part of Africa and the Far East, as well as the other continents.

India was at one time surrounded by water, then it crashed into Asia and formed the Himalayas. The Urals are older, more eroded.
 
Now dont mix up the different meanings of continent.

Is Cuba not part of the American continent?
