Protesters in cities across the country took to the streets on Monday for "Not My President's Day" rallies with a strong anti-Trump message.
Olga Lexell, who was one of about 20 people who helped organize the events in Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York, said they were intended to show Trump there was widespread opposition to his policies and "ridiculous" executive orders.
"A lot of people are angry because he lost the popular vote and is ruling like somebody who won by a landslide," Lexell said.
In New York's Columbus Circle, protesters held signs with a simple message -- the word "No!" in different languages.
In addition, merchants sold T-shirts reading "Not My President" above smaller text reading "Elected but not chosen."
"In the name of humanity, fascist America -- No! No! No! No! No!," they chanted.
The rallies on Monday came amid what has been a fierce backlash from liberal grassroots groups to the Trump administration. That opposition has been voiced on a broad range of issues, including women's reproductive rights, immigration, and climate change.
New Jersey resident Janell Kastner joined the New York rally to protest the "gross incompetence" of President Trump, she said. She said she hopes the protest "further unifies those of us who do not adhere to Donald Trump's apparent lack of moral standing."
Rachel McPhee, another rally attendee, told CNN that she hoped "that people keep coming together to resist this administration and to show Donald Trump how much opposition he has, as he did not win the popular vote and isn't representative of our whole country."
The protests took place in several dozen cities, according to the Not My President's Day Facebook page.
In Los Angeles, protesters gathered and held signs at City Hall, chanting "No ban, no wall!"
And in Atlanta, protesters included college students like Alyssa McNerney, who said she came out to highlight Republican party's hypocrisy.

I am not talking about the ban on visitors from seven Islamic countries, the building of a wall between the U.S. and Mexico, or the appointment of executive branch agency heads who are devoted to abolishing them.

No, I am talking about the far more troubling string of statements issued by the president of the United States, whether in the form of middle-of-the-night tweets or in televised interviews and other public settings, in which easily proven facts are simply misrepresented or contradicted by absolute and unambiguous untruths, a.k.a. “lies”: that there were 1.3 million people on the National Mall for the inauguration, that it was the most widely viewed inauguration in U.S. history, and that 3 million illegal immigrants unlawfully cast their vote on Nov. 8, apparently all of them voting for Hillary Clinton, that busloads of Massachusetts residents rolled into New Hampshire to cast illegal votes, or that the American crime rate is the highest it’s been in 45 years.

This is not funny stuff. It is deadly serious. What these statements, and others like them (both during the campaign and since Jan. 20) demonstrate is that the president of the United States is not sane. Read that again, slowly: The president of the United States is not sane.

Anybody who would claim that at least 3 million illegal aliens did not vote (for Hillary) in 2016, is a liar or an idiot.

Meanwhile, Red State conservative voters only could muster 26 percent of registered voters to vote for Trump and put him in the WH. Yet Trump lost the popular vote 3 million to Hillary, and an estimated 5 million votes to Green party-3rd party candidates. Trump has no mandate and will be protested for the next 4 years.

Just for curiosity: Did only Trump lose those 5 million third party votes or Clinton lost them as well? Would not she have won the residency If she had not lost those votes? Did she not run her campaign stupidly? Was she not a worthless candidate?

Trump lost the popular vote by more than 7 million votes if you count how many people voted 3rd party/green party.

Also, what not has been considered is "GOP" Governor "Cross Checking" Purging-Suppression of otherwise legal Democrat voters. If Clinton had won the election then she would have been measured on losing or winning the popular vote.

As for the voters who voted neither for Trump or Hillary that total number is around 5 million voters.
