Some people are confusing Socialism with Communism, i call myself a democratic socialist based on a mixed economy like we had in the UK after WW2, we built a health service all the main essential infrastructure like rail, water, energy, a state housing provision with affordable rents for working people etc were State assets, all that changed with the fascist Thatcher coming to power, she was a disciple of Adam Smith and Milton Friedman and the total insanity of wild Capitalism, and here in the UK we have been paying the price ever since, that was the nightnare exported to Russia when the Soviet Union went, since then Russia has been saved by Putin, that is why the Western fee market lunatics hate him, he stopped the bastards looting Russia with rabid Capitalism.

The project of building socialism in the USSR turned out to be super successful. Realize the fact that from the very first attempt, and not from the 5th or 20th, it was possible to build a superpower without any bourgeoisie, robbery of other countries and in an extremely hostile environment. The railways were built by private companies and then nationalized during WWII. Water and energy utilities were privately built and then nationalized in the early 20th century. Health care was private until 1948. Private companies built all the thing you claim that socialism did.

Essential services should never be in private hands, the labour Government afterthe war did right to nationalise those industries, people died before the NHS because they couldn't afford a Doctor, that is not a civilised Country, when Thatcher came in she privatised anything that moved or i should say piratised, we now have a situation where foreign Countries own chunks of out energy, rail, water, and people are being ripped off to pay shareholders, and we have creeping privatisation of the health service, the only thing that matters to that scum is money.

You haven’t named a single successful socialist country. Naming capitalist countries with social safety nets (Scandinavia) doesn’t count. China has moved more and more to a capitalist system. Why?
