It is not just modern audiences who cannot appreciate the joke. How many others did not make the connection?

A friend who raised her kids in the church was dumbstruck when he grand kids came to visit. She bought them an ark with all the animals and they asked her what it was. They had never heard of Noah or an ark. We have gotten so far away from God and so into self, that truer words were never spoken, "Forgive them for they know not what they do".

I think everybody got that and the other references when the movie came out. If they didn't it would have failed.

These jokes weren't the main point anyway; the satire of blind follower syndrome, which was the main point, made it the successful social commentary it became.

God created religion as a joke in this world to keep His people deceived from the Truth of who our true created existence is in Him.

It's very funny how He could make man believe in false gods instead of His invisible Kingdom where we were created.

Jeremiah 10
10: But the LORD is the true God; he is the living God and the everlasting King. At his wrath the earth quakes, and the nations cannot endure his indignation.
11: Thus shall you say to them: "The gods who did not make the heavens and the earth shall perish from the earth and from under the heavens."
12: It is he who made the earth by his power, who established the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding stretched out the heavens.
13: When he utters his voice there is a tumult of waters in the heavens, and he makes the mist rise from the ends of the earth. He makes lightnings for the rain, and he brings forth the wind from his storehouses.

15: They are worthless, a work of delusion; at the time of their punishment they shall perish.


It's amazing how God created us as invisible energy and what we see is only processed energy called illusions.

Britain isn't the only Nation becoming completely illiterate of the scriptures. How many Americans, even self professed Christians, haven't read the Bible? Way too many.

People have sacrifices their lives for us to have the Bible in English. Before People were ignorant of the Bible because they couldn't have it in their own language. Now they are ignorant of the Bible because they chose not to read it. Who do you think is going to be more accountable before God?

Those Catholics and Protestants that killed each other over vernacular uses of the Bible.

The segment on the mount was slapstick-ish comedy. You needn't make any connection in order to find it comical.

I was hoping for the truth, yet the christians try to sell you their brand.

Monty Python had a bad habit of making intellectual humor. When I watched reruns in 1974-76 of their shows many in jr high never got the jokes, it was just a small percentage of us that enjoyed the show and the movies.

I agree, it is sad that so many do not understand the jokes poking fun at religions.... they are missing out of some good laughs.

However, i do believe that all religions should be mocked and laughed at.

That's a good'un but the one that still does it for me is the obsequious throbbing throng in the street all chanting in perfect unison, "YES! WE'RE ALL INDIVIDUALS!"
