If they somehow get a conviction, it's only for show.

And the key point of contention was the testimony of Gates. The judge said gates needed to testify for the prosecution to prove its charge of conspiracy.

Which is only one of roughly a dozen charges.

And Gates testified.

Manaforts lawyers openly admitted in their opening statement that there is millions in unreported income. Why defend this guy?

They've got Manaforts accountant saying that Manafort was intimately involved in all financial dealings. They've got loan officers affirming that personally Manafort lied to them about properties he owned.

With Manafort already admitting that there are million of dollars in unreported income. But that its not his fault because he wasn't involved in the financial dealings.

Gates, Manafort's accountants, Manafort's loan officers, Manafort's emails all affirm that this is a blatant lie.

And yet conservatives *STILL* insist that the investigation should be shut down, the charges be dismissed. They will gladly set criminals free if they're told to on twitter.
