Kill The Profit Motive And You Kill Modern Medical Advances And Prosperity

What does that prove? Almost all the latest cancer drugs are patented. CAT scanners are patented. MRI machines are patented. Artificial joints are patented. The artificial heart is patented. Pacemakers are patented. Every single machine and tool you see in an operating room is patented.

Jonas Salk had no right to patent the Polio vaccine since a private charity funded his research. They were the only ones who had the right to patent it.

What does your point, from the Business POV, have to do with the fact that "Genius will supposedly be discovered eventually"?

I hear all the time from Conservatives that "Inventors don't need multi-million dollars labs, all they need is a garage".
In fact, FoxNews tells us that all the time.
So does Limbaugh and Hannity.

Apparently, you are stating that they are incorrect.

I know you are a Libertarian and not a Conservative, so I would like your point of view on what appears be sound-bites.

Please quote anyone saying inventors dont need multi million dollar labs. ANother fact you made up out of thin air.

You obviously don't watch FoxNews or listen to CTR.
Good for you!
You know the pretty long haired brunette snot on the five?
Or that other British accented sound-bite idiot on Fox?
They say this all the time.

Only to people with a modicum of intelligence. You've already shown you lack that.,

LOL, EXACTLY like I said you would do. You would do everything you could to not explain the "difference" in what was said.

Why? Because there is none and you're an an insane asshole who is as predictable as they come. And you wonder why you get annihilated in every debate we engage in.

Do you really think there was no difference between the two statements?

I already answered that and I already said you would avoid pointing out the difference. I was right on both accounts.

I did.
In a socialized medicine system the pay is determined by the government. That usually results in lower than market salaries, driving out the most talented people to seek reward elsewhere. You dont mind that because you are one of the untalented so simply resent people who are better at their jobs.
When I wrote "no pay" it was somewhat exagerated. It is no pay compared to what a fair market would reward people for their accomplishments.
Clear now? Or do you need another adult to explain it to you?

LOL, do you ever get tired of being exposed as the inbred that you are? First you tried to change what the topic was, when that failed you back tracked your lame/incorrect statement. You're the king of back peddling.

You make this too easy, it's not even a challenge with you anymore.

See the issue is you are too stupid to follow the conversation and understand what is going on. You cannot distinguish between two similar statements that differ in subtle meaning. This marks you as having subpar intelligence.

Go ahead, explain the "difference". Let's see your best semantic games at work.

Or Jonas Salk.

In the years after Salk's discovery, many supporters, in particular the National Foundation, "helped him build his dream of a research complex for the investigation of biological phenomena 'from cell to society'." Called the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, it opened in 1963 in the San Diego neighborhood of La Jolla. Salk believed that the institution would help new and upcoming scientists along in their careers, as he said himself, "I thought how nice it would be if a place like this existed and I was invited to work there." This was something that Salk was deprived of early in his life, but due to his achievements, was able to provide for future scientists.

In 1966, Salk described his "ambitious plan for the creation of a kind of Socratic academy where the supposedly alienated two cultures of science and humanism will have a favorable atmosphere for cross-fertilization."[64]
Yes, getting your own institute to achieve your dreams is totally the product of altruism.

The libturds will claim he didn't get anything out of it.

He certainly didn't do it because of the desire for personal profit. But go ahead and make the argument, I can use a good laugh.

I suppose you can produce a quote of them saying that.

Of course I can't, I actually watch them and I'm glad you don't.
You think I bother dredging through YouTube videos for Fox droppings?
I can barely watch the idiocy in the first place.

"By the way, you can start a business by selling the $268.00 worth of stuff in your closet."
What a bunch of of useless talking heads.

In other words, they never said any such thing.

It should be easy to explain the difference then.

What he wrote was "laws that regulate industry are a form of socialism."
You wrote that they are socialism.
Lots of things are forms of socialism without being socialism. The fact that the US Post Office is a government entity is a form of socialism. But it does not make the US socialist. Just because somethig shares some characteristics with something else does not make it identical to the something else.
I realize that was an explanation for an adult. I predict you will dismiss it as being "semantics", which is your term for "I dont really understand it therefore it can't be important."

How do you know why he did it? Do you read minds?

There are these wonderful things called books. You should really check them out one day.

So quote one of these books you read. Or do you really expect us to take your word for it?

This is the point where he deflects and calls you names for not doing his work for you. Or he posts a link to another post he made and claims that's proof.
In any case you're dealing with a mental midget here who couldn't read write, reason, or argue his way out of a paper bag. No satisfaction, except from seeing him squirm under the harsh light of debate.

Yep. I love pinning these pinheads down until they have nowhere to hide.

"Salk never patented the vaccine, nor did he earn any money from his discovery, preferring to see it distributed as widely as possible."

Salk Institute - About Salk - History of Salk - About Jonas Salk

Let me guess, because it's a website and not a "book" you're going to pretend like it's not true.

Just like I said.......you've missed the point completely. He's claiming that Obamacare is Socialism and then says laws that regulate industry are a form of socialism which means that our healthcare system had "socialist" elements well before Obamacare ever was created. So to act like Obama is ushering in a socialist system is ridiculous as pointed out by him and now you.

Good job fool.

Salk had no right to patent the vaccine, so your claims are irrelevant.

Good job fool.

Prior to Obamacare, our healthcare system was at least 50% socialist. Governments spends half of all the money spent on healthcare. With Obamacare, healthcare is now 90% socialist.

Pure horseshit. Their cancer cure rates are significantly lower than for the United States, among other things.

Not horseshit.

Here are the facts: JAMA Network | JAMA | Is US Health Really the Best in the World?

The article is horseshit. None of the statistics mentioned measure the quality of healthcare. They measure the health of Americans, who are the fattest people in the world. Diabetes in America is endemic because we are so overweight. That alone will result in a drastic decrease in health. Heart disease is also a result of being overweight.

All the other measures have to do with infant mortality, and the way we measure it doesn't compare with the way European countries measure it. The main factors affecting early infant survival are birth weight and prematurity. The way that these factors are reported — and how such babies are treated statistically — tells a different story than what the numbers reveal.

Low birth weight infants are not counted against the “live birth” statistics for many countries reporting low infant mortality rates.

According to the way statistics are calculated in Canada, Germany, and Austria, a premature baby weighing <500g is not considered a living child.

But in the U.S., such very low birth weight babies are considered live births. The mortality rate of such babies — considered “unsalvageable” outside of the U.S. and therefore never alive — is extraordinarily high; up to 869 per 1,000 in the first month of life alone. This skews U.S. infant mortality statistics.

JAMA is a decidedly left-wing journal. It has an agenda to push. It doesn't care about the fact.

The health of Americans doesn't = the health care they receive.

That's your rebuttal? Are you kidding?

Life expectency is included in the statistics. Life expectency is the most important measure of the quality of health care. The U.S. lags far behind other countries.

According to the way statistics are calculated in Canada, Germany, and Austria, a premature baby weighing <500g is not considered a living child

Link the above statement or I call horseshit.

You're half wrong about cancer cure rates too.

The U.S. has higher cancer survival rates for some kinds of cancer than other countries but lower cancer survival rates for other kinds of cancer.

Study Of 31 Countries Finds Wide Variations In Cancer Survival Rates - Medical News Today

The only relevant measure is the survival rate based on the stage the cancer was in when the patient was diagnosed. This study doesn't measure that.

Why would that be the only relevant measure?

You are totally full of shit.

Because that shows how well the healthcare system does at curing cancer. Just looking at overall cancer deaths includes things other than the performance of the healthcare system, like the percentage of the population that smokes, or whether people go to the doctor for cancer screening.
