Where was timid Harry? The conflict that should have been over in less than a year turned into a three year quagmire at the cost of 50,000 American lives. You might try reading a little history written by historians, it comes out somewhat differently than your history. MacArthur was a good Republican being groomed for the presidency. It was the Democrats who fought the Republicans over Slavery, Citizenship and Voting rights. Republicans passed three Amendments in 1865,1868 and 1870 for the Black people.

It was the Democrats who created the KKK, Imposed Segregation, Jim Crow laws, Black Codes and restricted voting.

Bull Connor was a Democrat in the 1940;s, he was still a Democrat in the early 1970's when he dies, a man who was a violent racist, with close ties to the KKK

Albert Gore Sr. was a Democrat in the 1930's, he was still a Democrat in the late 1990's when he died. He was a mild supporter of Segregation
