NYC, you can argue there was a cut, but ALL city agencies were cut due to Covid requiring funds to be shifted elsewhere. Then they turned around and increased funding, again!

It was actually stupid rhetoric... the police never want for money. The Police-Prison-Industrial complex is a hungry beast that eats up lots of tax dollars and accomplishes not a lot.
Nervous suspects need to listen more and stop disobeying police orders or doing something stupid like trying to grab their weapons….. regardless of the volume of guns we have.We've been arming cops like soldiers since the 1970's. Maybe we need to stop arming crooks like soldiers...
Let's get realistic. only 45-60 cops are shot to death ever year. This is a terrible number, but hardly surprising in a country as gun-happy as this one is. We also have 1000 civilians/suspects shot every year by cops. Most industrialized Democracies only have a handful of lethal police encounters, but in this country it's much too common because we have too many guns and too many nervous cops.

The cop doesn't know you're reaching for a cell phone. Do what the cop says and everything will be fine.Or we can just make it harder for bad guys to get guns, so panicked people reaching for their cell phones aren't preceived as a lethal threat.
I think everyone is in agreement about not wanting the bad guys to have guns.
