Let’s Remember About Whom We Are Speaking

Your claim is that Hitler wasn't popular among the Germans?????

Before he was appointed Chancellor the Nazis never got more than 33% of the vote. That vote was in 1932.

"Hitler’s final grab for power was when he negotiated with the Reichstag members to give him temporary “emergency” powers for four years, enabling him to act without the consent of parliament or the German constitution. While negotiations were taking place, his large military force was surrounding parliament with the threat of war, should they refuse. "

How Did Hitler Come to Power? - History

Again, is it your point that he held the German populace hostage????

Nope. It was in response to this line "In 1933, Fascism was celebrating its eleventh year in power, in Italy, and the election of the National Socialists in Germany represented an unmitigated defeat for liberal democracy in Europe’s largest industrialized nation.

First, the election was in 1932. Second, Hitler was appointed, not elected. Third, after the Olympics many people who supported Hitler,(not Germans) began to question their support.
