Liberals Think We're Jerks For Wanting To Control Spending

Are you blind, deaf, and dumb? NeoCon's are always talking about "the takers" yet have no problem spending money on weapons we don't even need. Here's just one example.

U.S.: Republican Frontrunner Touts Neo-Conservative Foreign Policy

WASHINGTON, Oct 7 2011 (IPS) - In his first major foreign policy address of the 2012 presidential campaign, Republican frontrunner Mitt Romney Friday presented a largely neo-conservative platform similar to that pursued by George W. Bush, although he never mentioned the former president by name.

Speaking at The Citadel military academy in South Carolina, Romney promised to increase defence spending – and the size of the U.S. Navy – as part of a strategy designed to ensure that the United States remain the world’s dominant military power and that the 21st century be “an American century”.

“The United States should always retain military supremacy to deter would-be aggressors and to defend our allies and ourselves,” he told the Citadel cadets. “And know this: If America is the undisputed leader of the world, it reduces our need to police a more chaotic world.”

Once again.... prove your point.

What is the purpose of the federal government? It's not to provide a cushion for the poor.

The governments original purpose was to ensure our liberties and safe guard our country and our lives.

What is the purpose of the Federal Government

The purpose isn't to spend more than 10 countries combined on military, on weapons we don't need.

Okay, cya later.

It really depends on what it is. If it benefits America = leave it alone.

Infrastructure, science and investment into r&d = benefiting America.

It is a insane idea to cut those.

Why not raise taxes on the rich a little and cut welfare, waste and foreign aid?
Their goal is to destroy Social security destroy any protection for labor so that exploitation of the 99 percent by the one percent can accelerate...its why Conservatives are nasty...

Blah blah blah. Standard class envy boilerplate nonsense.

What is it with economic liberals where they just assume all entitlement and social spending is 100% okay and beyond questioning.
The idiot who posted up the graphs going on and on about military cuts is the answer - doesn't even see that his OWN graph shows that military spending is only 16% of the budget, where social programs are 70%!!
Who in their right mind would ignore 70% of their spending when looking at spending cuts???
Insane.

Exactly!! That's why we should give them everything. Let the rich rebuild the roads if they want to and then charge everyone whatever they like to drive on them. Let them decide whether or no to establish clean water standards. Let them decide whether or not the food industries should be able to contaminate their products, by accident of course, and not have to pay reparations. Let them regulate the safety and maintenance of the airlines, or not. Let them provide for our common defense and the guarantee or denial of our individual rights as they see fit. Like it or not, they already are. Who do think writes our laws? Congress? Please! You know better than that. And all these wars in the Middle East have served to provide a proliferation arms in the area which is the single greatest cause of instability in the are. They've also served to do something else quite under the radar, the growth of Corporate private defense contractors. I say let them have it and see where it leads us. In Oklahoma they've had unprecedented growth of Toll roads built by private investors. The tolls are never supposed cease by mandate of state law. The way it's supposed to work is for maintenance and repair to be paid by a portion of the tolls and the rest to paid to corporate investors. The actually works is for maintenance and repair to be ignored until it can absolutely ignore them no longer. Then instead of paying for out of collect tolls, even when is plenty of in the account to pay for them, they raise the tolls to whatever it takes to cover the expense and continue to give the accumulated tolls to the corporate investors. That's the way privatization actually works as opposed to the way it's suppose to work.
So by all means give the wealthy whatever they want howsoever they want it. It's not like you have any choice, it's already being done and Democrats are no better than Republican when it comes to doing anything more than paying lip service to this.

Mention spending cuts or even controlling spending and it's like holding up a cross in front of a vampire. They react violently at times. Most of the time they claim that spending cuts will bring this country down.

On Monday, President Obama released his 2016 budget, which calls for increased spending and raising taxes, and on MSNBC’s The Cycle, so-called conservative co-host Abby Huntsman did her best to scold the GOP for opposing the tax-and-spend Obama budget.

Speaking to Lauren Fox of National Journal, Huntsman proclaimed that Republicans’ “big thing is we’ve got to cut spending, this is not something we’re going to approve and that’s often why they are considered the jerks here, because they aren’t talking about entitlements, they are talking about cuts.”

Think of it. In only a few years since Obama has become president, we've gone from clamoring for spending reform to you're a terrorist for wanting to control government spending.

Anyone with half a brain can see one of the biggest problems in government isn't that we don't have any money, it's that we spend too much. So Democrats invented a word for it to demonize the practice. Austerity. Anyone who starts talking about Austerity and recommending new investment is just pumping us for more tax increases. That's really all Democrats do. They try to think of new ways of taking our cash. Spending is now investment. Controlling spending is evil austerity. Anyone who falls for this line of bs can't be thinking. The answer to everything in Washington is always throwing more money at it, yet the problems never get solved. Obama wants to give the IRS $30 billion more to become more and more inefficient. Seems the more money he throws at a problem the worse it becomes. The IRS has massively increase their budget, hired thousands of new agents, yet if you have a question about your taxes, forget getting an answer. They warn about holding up refunds this year because they claim they need more money.

Notice how everything Obama touches turns to shit?

Still mired in scandal for its mishandling of nonprofit political groups, the Internal Revenue Service is prepping for a new role: chief enforcement arm of the Affordable Care Act.

That task will require new agents — 6,700, the IRS figures — and more money — about $1 billion more than the current budget.

Confronted with the tax agency’s 9-percent increase in its 2014 budget, House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan, R-Wisc., blasted Deputy IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel at a meeting of the House Committee on Ways and Means Thursday morning.

After reading off a long list of instances of waste, fraud, excess and abuse at the agency over the past several years, Ryan demanded to know how the IRS felt it had the “moral authority” to ask for more money. He actually sounded almost hurt by the request.

Nonsense. And typical response from those on the left.
Typical scenario:
Three people at the water cooler in the office, someone says "man you guys read about the waste and fraud in social security payments?"
One man, a conservative says "someone needs to do something about that, I heard there was $billions in waste and fraud, we should..."
The other man, a liberal interrupts frantically..."typical right winger, protects millionaires but doesn't care about the poor and the elderly. I suppose you think we should throw in them all out in the streets?"

The above scenario is always, always the case.

Now...war on drugs. It was started in the Reagan Administration.
When Clinton ran for President he spoke against the increasing incarcerations and stated repeatedly that treatment was the answer, not jails. But what did he do? He expanded the war on drugs, and incarceration rates increased, not decreased.
Bush increased funding for it.
Obama? Well...like Clinton he campaigned against it. Yet after 5 years, and two of them with a super majority in the senate - has yet to produce policies to change the laws.
But of course you ignore that.

Its not that we spend more than the next ten countries combined, but that eight of them are our allies

That gives us over $1 trillion while potential enemies are at $250 billion

Where is the right on Commerce Clause?
Where is the left?
I will give you a hint...the same place as the right.
The entire Federal Government, Democrat and Republican have completely abused their regulatory powers not to control or modify policies to protect the citizenry, but to protect and maintain the profits of the wealthy and to build and maintain our current corpororatocracy.
Special interest, namely super corporations, the elite wealthy and the central banks/wall street get everything they want. Especially - I will say again - ESPECIALLY under this President. WHo has been the greatest friend to Wall Street in modern history. And of course, you don't know this.

I think our wars on crime and drugs are useless to the extent abstinence doesn't work. In any Case, we have a Second Amendment and a Commerce Clause. Where is the right (flank) on this?
Explain how either relates to entitlement spending.

I am not sure what you mean; war is a burden on Commerce.

Cut 500 billion and you'll have a roughly balanced budget. Cut one trillion and you can start paying down the debt. Post cuts below and make sure to do the math:

1.
2.
3.
etc.

You don't even have to cut. Merely freeze the budget for a few years and it will balance.
yep, as long as we have no wars, that will help....

Oh, so the military needs to be exempt from spending cuts? Sounds like reality takes over when the rubber meets the road.

Remember this?

June 2013

Not at all; some on the left know the right can't seem to muster a moral of "goodwill toward men" to end the waste of our wars on crime, drugs, poverty, and terror; we have a Commerce Clause not any form of common offense clause nor any form of general warfare clause.

And that's all the fault of the right.

Sure thing.

Who got us into Vietnam?
Who expanded the war in Afghanistan?

Democrats.

I guess you think everything bad is the Republicans fault.

Explain how either relates to entitlement spending.

Both our wars on crime and drugs are a form of entitlement spending and forms of job creation, but that sacrifice the end of our welfare-State to the means of a warfare-State.

It always amuses me to the point of tears whenever I hear someone articulate a belief that Republicans want to control spending.

That people actually say that out loud, in the face of reality, is a joke that never gets old.

Insane.

Kind of like yelling at your wife for buying a pair of shoes while right outside the window your boat is parked in the driveway.
