In a dependant and enslaved country.
Libertarian: Believes in minimal state interference, such that it only acts (through coercion) when a person's rights are violated by another.

Progressive: Looks to the State to rectify inequalities among entire groups by coercing another group into some sort of behavior or action to perform that remedy.
----------------------------
Libertarian: Believes that the free market is primary mover of society, economically and culturally.

Progressive (Non-Marxist): Believes that the State must intervene each time the market fails to deliver equality. Often referred to as Keynesian economics.

Progressive (Marxist): Self-explanatory.
-----------------------------
Libertarian: Trusts that people given the liberty, usually end up doing things beneficial to each other --- in other words, they have confidence in the common man to benefit society.

Progressive: Believes special people were made to guide the general population, in order to decide on their behalf what’s good for them --- in other words, they have disdain for the common man's abilities to benefit society.
-----------------------------
Libertarian: Looks at state interference as a hurdle and/or creator of problems and monopolies ('too big to fail' therefore 'too big to prosecute' therefore 'above the law while damaging everyone!').

Progressive: Argues for more state interference as a solution to the problem, because the current amount of regulation, oversight and coercion is insufficient to remedy the problems at hand, which are being caused by either racist, greedy or non-conforming individuals.
---------------------------------
Libertarian: Emphasizes on economic activity for increasing societal prosperity.

Progressive: Emphasizes on social and economic "justice" to equalize poverty among the general population, while their "special people" always manage to live like Kings. Often this results as a feudal system.
---------------------------------
Libertarian: Understands people are endowed with different skills and talents and are therefore rewarded accordingly.

Progressive: Seeks to “equalize” these for the “greater benefit of the society," and often at the expense of individual talents and desires.
