He turned a deeply red senate seat blue, and was so popular his Democrat successor won in a landslide. He would easily win his home state. Can he "take" politics? Yes, but I don't think he necessarily wants to. Which ironically could be what makes someone most suited for the job of being a politician who actually has America's best interests at heart.
