And after that Government attempted to take their firearms away.

Nor does it forbid the Federal, State or Local governments from writing laws that establish a Regulated Militia.
It does however state that a citizen's Right to Bear Arms Shall not be Infringed.

A militia in the Defense of a Free State is not for hunting ...
The citizen cannot be in a militia if they don't have the arms necessary to do the job.

Any absence of a law establishing a Regulated Militia does not violate the Constitution ...
And does not grant the Federal Government the power to pretend the other provision doesn't apply.
You cannot violate one provision to satisfy another provision ... And you can regulate a militia without restricting the weapons a Citizen can bear.

If anyone has any trouble understanding that, it's because they want it to mean something it doesn't.
