Maturing into Conservatism

Winston Churchill is reputed to have said that if you are not a "liberal" when you are young then you have no heart; if you are not a "conservative" when you are old, you have no brain. He probably never said it
He definitely never said it, but that never stops the Right from parroting it, while they attack Bette Midler.

"while they attack Bette Midler" LOL I forgot the 1st Amendment only applies to Liberals.

Folks this thread is getting pretty far off topic and derailed with personal off topic flaming. Please take that to the FZ where braincells go to recreate.

big brain?
Mental heath experts say cognitive decline.

If he was such a "...stable genius" he wouldn't have to tell anyone...it would be obvious.
Not to hate-filled leftards. If someone doesn't tell 'em what to think, say, and do they'd be lost.

Come to think of it, most of 'em are lost.

For instance those who cling to the silliness "experts" spout. Shortly after Shrillary's epic defeat, Nobel Prize winning economist Paul Krugman predicted an imminent global economic recession. One can only wonder if he put his investment dollars where is mouth is.

Paul Krugman: The Economic Fallout
The economic fallout of a Donald Trump presidency will probably be severe and widespread enough to plunge the world into recession, New York Times columnist Paul Krugman warned in a New York Times opinion piece published early Wednesday...
"Now comes the mother of all adverse effects — and what it brings with it is a regime that will be ignorant of economic policy and hostile to any effort to make it work," Krugman wrote. "So we are very probably looking at a global recession, with no end in sight.
You're not addressing our presidents mental health.
Just today Trump attacked NASA, saying the moon is a part of mars.

...Putin's cock is in Uranus.

Trump has his Space Command to explore Uranus

To elaborate on my initial thoughts...

A "young" man worries about the number of "poor" people and wishes there were more effective "programs" to lift them out of poverty. Then, as he starts paying taxes and sees the number of "poor" people who are just lazy or who have made horrible life-choices which have largely CAUSED their own poverty, and who have become adept at gaming the System to support them in their worthless lifestyle, the sympathy for the "poor" evaporates.

A "young" man worries about things like "mass incarceration," and how difficult it is to live in prison and afterward. But when he has a few decades of real life experience behind him, he learns that there is no such thing as "mass incarceration," and that the vast majority of those incarcerated are not only guilty of the crimes for which they were locked up, but probably scores of other crimes that they got away with.

A "young" man worries about the Planet and pollution and saving various species from extinction. A man with a few decades of life experience realizes that if it weren't for those "polluters" there would be no gainful employment for millions and millions of people, and the Earth will survive by itself, thank you very much, with a just little discretion on the part of the human race.

And so on.

This is not theoretical. I know HUNDREDS of people, mainly men, who have gone through exactly this metamorphosis. There are perennial conversations at party and family gatherings where the comments are, "Wait a second! Aren't you the guy who used to say...?" Yes, they have evolved (or devolved, if you prefer) from staunch liberals as young men to staunch conservatives in their 40's and beyond. Indeed I belong to bowling leagues and golf groups and professional societies and church groups, and virtually ALL of the men are conservative, and most of them were liberal as young adults.

Of course, 99% of my world is "white." And for this I must apologize, fuck you very much.

Young people are easily placated by conservative bumper sticker slogans

Trickle down is fine economic policy
Poor people deserve what they get
All tax cuts pay for themselves
If we take care of the wealthy, they will take care of us
Never got a job from a poor person

As people get older, they realize life is not a bumper sticker
