“To open an impeachment inquiry is a serious matter, and House Republicans would not take it lightly or use it for political purposes. The American people deserve to be heard on this matter through their elected representatives,” McCarthy told Breitbart News. “That’s why, if we move forward with an impeachment inquiry, it would occur through a vote on the floor of the People’s House and not through a declaration by one person.”

I've said previously that we'll see the true McCarthy when the Reps have the majority in both houses. We don't need to see any more. The guy is Paul Ryan/Mitch McConnell/Ms. Graham.

Im pretty sure he will get the votes. Any conservative who votes against it is finished.

If that's the case, he doesn't have the moderate votes to get him to 218. Earlier this week, there was talk about him circumventing the vote. That would have been the death knell for any vulnerable conservative moderate in the election next year.

It wont hurt anyone after bribery evidence is found because of the inquiry. Anyone who DOESNT vote for it is finished.

If that's the case, the House goes back to Democrats...big time in 2024. Right now, the moderates in vulnerable districts have apparently convinced McCarthy to table his power play.
If he does attempt to ramrod a vote, it'll be the end of his career in the Republican party..and maybe the beginning of the end of the party itself.

If Biden is innocent, they wont find anymore evidence and it will crush the GOPs chances at being the majority in Congress. If Biden is guilty, they WILL find more evidence, which will crush the Dems chances.

Why do you think the lack of evidence will crush the GOP's chances?

The GOP frontrunner has literally campaigned on something that he hasn't had to provide a shred of evidence for -- for the last 3 years......

GOP voters are not motivated by evidence, they are motivated by fragile feelings and grievances.....I say the hardcore Trumpers should remove McCarthy and install whoever they feel is willing to literally kill Democrats on the House floor....probably won't be popular with the majority of Americans, but when has the GOP cared about that

No, we are doing this entire thing in an ethical way. Dems didnt hold a vote for an impeachment inquiry. There was no investigation, no evidence. Pelosi just went right to impeachment, TWICE.

If the GOP investigation flops, OF COURSE it will hurt their chances. If it doesnt flop it will hurt the dems chances.

There are 18 House Republicans who were elected in districts carried by Biden. McCarthy has to know that they would likely vote down any serious efforts for impeachment, and if he launched that and failed, it would probably cost him his job and his legacy.

McCarthy is in a tough spot. The GOP has the slimmest of leads in the House, so in order to get anything done down party lines, he can't afford to alienate either his moderates or the so-called "Freedom Caucus" of hardliners such as Matt Gaetz. I see this as fresh meat for the latter, so it looks to them as if he's serious about threatening impeachment.

McCarthy will get voted out if he doesnt get this done. Theres a good chance anyway.

Aren’t they supposed to have some evidence first?

They have enough to indict Joe Biden right now, and im just talking about the evidence that the public knows. Comer knows even more. The only reason it isnt happening is because the DOJ wont indict a sitting president. The FBI is also no doubt sitting on a mountain of evidence right now, just waiting to be released.

They have yet to present any such evidence.
