Media Surprised That Christians Schools Are . . . Christian

‘Karen and Mike Pence are conservative, evangelical Christians who share beliefs about religion and politics. They have every right to do this. ("It's absurd that her decision to teach art to children at a Christian school, and the school's religious beliefs, are under attack," said Kara Brooks, a spokeswoman for Pence.) But consider Mike Pence's position of power in this country: He regularly stands shoulder to shoulder with his boss, Donald Trump. He has access to and can influence a President who is very interested in maintaining support among evangelicals.

For all their professed beliefs, Pence, and his wife, show unwavering support for a man who has been married three times, divorced twice, has had five children with three women and who has been accused of (though denies) paying a porn star and a Playboy model hundreds of thousands of dollars to conceal affairs he'd had with them.

The hypocrisy here, and indeed from white evangelical Trump supporters, is astonishing.’

Mike Pence and Karen Pence show astonishing moral hypocrisy (opinion) - CNN

Pence and his wife are at liberty to be ignorant, hateful bigots, just as the majority of the American people and the press are at liberty to condemn that ignorance, hatred, hypocrisy, and bigotry and acknowledge the fact that such Christian ‘values’ are in clear conflict with American values, and are considered to be repugnant to most Americans.

If you knew anything about Christians other than how to hate them and spout ridiculous garbage about how they "should" practice beliefs you don't even share, you would know that nothing about Christianity requires them to judge and shun other people for their mistakes for the rest of their lives. It's amazing how hypocritically jackwads like you want to screech and holler about Christians being "judgemental", and THEN holler when they aren't as judgemental as you would be if you embraced any morality at all.

No, you stupiid woman, it is YOU who knows nothing about Christians. We're not a homogenized group where everyone believes the same things. Since 67% of Americans approve of gay marriage, and 70% of Americans identify as "Christian", it is apparent to all but the most hopelessly stupid that a majority of Christians are not prejudiced and bigoted against gays, and that the position that the Pence have taken in this matter is not a "Christian" position as all since it's not shared by even a majority of Christians, but rather by a small subset of radicial right wing evangelical Christians who are out of touch with mainstream America.

Poll: Approval of same-sex marriage in U.S. reaches new high

Religion in America: U.S. Religious Data, Demographics and Statistics

So stop trying to pretend that our aversion to Mrs. Pence supporting radical right wing religious bigotry is somehow "anti-Christian" or unAmerican. It is the Pence's who are out of step with reality, not the rest of us.

It's still a private Christian school.

The issue isn't whether it's a private Christian school, and entitled by law to enclude anyone they consider "unsuitable", but whether the wife of the Vice-President of the United States should be working for an institution which displays such gross disrespect for the way Jesus lived his life, and the principles of equality and fairness to all Americans as enshrined in the Constitution.

Mrs. Pence is and should be held to a higher standard, than your run of the mill right wing bigot.

So, you would be happy if she just quit the job? Is that what it would take to resolve your issue? If not then what would it take?

The flip side of your argument is she is being held to a higher standard. It just so happens that it isn't a standard that you identify with. That is ok. The best that can be achieved is that it is a private Christian school.

The wife of the Vice President of the United States supports bigotry and intolerance. That's not a good message for a public servant and his family. A lot of gay people pay taxes to keep the Pences in their Washington mansion. She should show more respect for the voters.

Ok. You don't have an answer because for you it's a limitless shitfest.

The wife of the Vice President of the United States supports bigotry and intolerance. That's not a good message for a public servant and his family. A lot of gay people pay taxes to keep the Pences in their Washington mansion. She should show more respect for the voters.

A major reason why Mr. Trump was elected, and why Karen Pense's husband is now the Vice-President, is that mainstream Americans are, in large part, sick and tired of being told over and over again by left wrong-wing filth such as you that our religious faith and our moral standards are “bigotry and intolerance”, while you openly promote perversion, immorality and madness as if they were virtues.

I hope DemocRATs continue to run with this message. May it produce the same results in 2020 that it did in 2016.

Anyway, as I was saying, is this not exactly what the left has been demanding and harping on since forever? They keep insisting that they aren't attacking Christianity, they have no interest in suppressing Christianity. How many times have we heard this meme? "I just don't want the Bible shoved down my throat. Keep your religion to yourself, and we're fine."

Leaving aside arguments about how demanding self-censorship IS suppressing Christianity, are Karen Pence and Imanuel Christian not doing exactly what the left vehemently insists is "all they want"? They are not espousing their beliefs in a public school, or anywhere that receives any sort of public funds. They're a private school, on their own private property, and no one is being forced to hear or live with their beliefs who does not agree with them. Indeed, they are encouraging people who don't agree with them to not be there.

Is this not what the Left told us was "all they wanted"? And yet they're still pitching a media pissy fit over it. It's almost as though they've been lying all this time, or something.
I still don't see what the issue is.
The issue is: is being an ignorant, hateful bigot indeed ‘Christian’ – to the extent that gay and transgender Americans (most of whom are Christian) are to be demonized and excluded.

That the Vice President of the United States buys into this hate and bigotry is indeed newsworthy.

And it’s not a matter of the press being ‘surprised’ that Christian schools are ‘Christian,’ rather, it’s the press documenting the fact that for a school to propagate such hatred and bigotry behind the façade of religious dogma is wrong and reprehensible, and clearly in conflict with American values.

"Demonized" = Not applauded and told their life choices are perfect.

So this was the outrage du jour for my sister, the family's token leftist:

Karen Pence Works at School That Bans Gay Employees and Students

Apparently, this is a big, shocking story worthy of much coverage:

Karen Pence to teach at school that bans LGBTQ employees, students

Karen Pence Is Working At A School That Bans LGBTQ Employees And Kids | HuffPost

The school that hired Karen Pence requires applicants to disavow gay marriage, trans identity

Why this is such a bombshell is anyone's guess. To quote Matt Walsh, the media seems to "discover" that the Pences are Christians every two months or so, and they're shocked and outraged every time.

I'm not entirely certain what the problem is here. Obviously, given that they all basically used the same headline, they're up in arms yet again about Christians stubbornly insisting that "alternative" sexual behavior is not okay, in direct contradiction to the CLEAR dictates of the left. I'm just not sure if they're demanding that Christian private schools should endorse behavior they don't agree with, or if they're demanding that the Vice President's wife should have to get a job in a place she doesn't agree with.
Yeah nothing says religion of love like banning people that are hated..Yet these same people cry if forced to buy birth control.

Ahhh, yes. More of what you "know" about Christians from "news sources" who blatantly feed you lies that you eat up with a spoon.

If you watch the longer, uncut version of the video (which is mysteriously being pulled from Internet sites as fast as people can post it), you see that the story is the complete reverse of Mr. Philips' claims, and it was actually the kids being harassed.

Oooh, does it sting to be wrong yet again?

Yeah, you're totally qualified to be calling other people "stupid", honey.

I've never said that every person out there claiming to be a Christian believes the same thing. I speak to, and will continue to speak to, what Christianity teaches via what's written in the Bible. I'm under no obligation to treat false doctrine that people try to graft onto the Scriptures as though it is valid. That is no more real Christianity than a man in a dress is a real woman.

And by the way, if you weren't so busy attempting to rewrite Christianity to suit you, you would know that it isn't decided by polls. So telling me how many people think this or that is meaningless . . . as are so many of your posts.

At no point in time does it ever occur to you that anything could be none of your business if your zeal in forcing your beliefs on others overwhelms you.

What does "wife of the Vice President" mean? That she somehow becomes a public commodity who owes it to you to believe and act the way you want? Because the last time I checked, even the Vice President himself retains the right to exercise his freedom of religion, and "wife of the Vice President" was another way of saying "private citizen who doesn't owe you a thing".

I also dispute and reject your assertion that anything YOU believe and demand qualifies as a "higher standard" of anything.

So stop trying to pretend your fascistic Thought Police tactics are somehow legitimate and noble and learn to show some of that "tolerance" you falsely claim to hold dear, you hypocrite.

ha ha ha

pathetic
sad
deplorable

Gays are out everywhere and YOU can NOT stop it!

ha

ha

gays are marrying and YOU can't stop it!

ha ha ha

pot is being decriminalized and legalized
interracial relationships are common
women and gays and blacks in prominent and powerful positions in the military, business, politics and entertainment.
more and more people aren't bothering to ever marry
more and more people waiting longer before marrying (if they ever do)
everyone has sex outside of marriage
and even conservatives would vote for a black or a woman.......

nothing you can do about any of this,

welcome to very progressive/liberal USA!

Yeah nothing says religion of love like banning people that are hated..Yet these same people cry if forced to buy birth control.
Think about this. Would anyone sign up for an art class to learn dance? Go to a hair salon to go swimming? Christian schools teach sexual discipline, no sex outside of marriage along with avoidance of homosexual acts, etc. If I want my children to feel free to have premarital sex and to experiment with homosexuality, then the school I choose for them will not be a Christian school. I would expect people to respect my choice; therefore, I respect their choice.

Also, you begin with a fallacy that homosexuals are hated. That would be similar to declaring students who sign up for a painting class hate dancers on the basis that dancing is not allowed in paint class. Or, that dance instructors are discriminated against because no one hires them to teach oil painting.

The Latest: Diocese apologizes for students’ actions

"We condemn the actions of the Covington Catholic High School students towards Nathan Phillips specifically, and Native Americans in general, Jan. 18, after the March for Life, in Washington, D.C.," the diocese's statement reads. The truth is that THEY didn't "demonstrate their intolerance"; the accuser did. The truth is that the REAL story is exactly the opposite of what you've been told to believe. And the truth is that you don't want to know the truth, because it contradicts the narrative you want to believe.

People who are living lives which do not exhibit the beliefs of the school are not welcome to come there. Yes, that does include people who are actively participating in homosexual behavior; it also would include promiscuity and marital infidelity.

There's a big difference between being welcome in church and being welcome in a teaching environment.

I am pretty sure most kids are NOT told to not have sex period. What century are you living in that you think schools in general are encouraging abstinence?

Odd that you are tired of being told something that your actions confirm are true.......:71:

Dragon thinks she has the right to require that all elected officials AND their extended families should be required to conform to her particular beliefs, because she's just so self-evidently superior in all ways.

could potentially face expulsion, according to the diocese.

it is cecil and the posters in this thread that misrepresent the true religion by their manufactured document to continue the uninterrupted degradation recorded through history without the slightest amount of remorse.

What do these posters need to do regarding their religion that will make you happy? What type of remorse do you need to see and for what specific crimes?

Surely you have an end.

A teen at the center of a video confrontation with a Native American organizer of a march in Washington, D.C., says he did nothing to provoke anyone and sought to calm the situation.

A Catholic diocese in Kentucky is condemning the actions of some students from its all-male high school mocking a Native American man after a rally in Washington.

In a joint statement to the Cincinnati Enquirer , the Roman Catholic Diocese of Covington and Covington Catholic High School apologized to Nathan Phillips, an Omaha elder and Vietnam veteran who attended the Indigenous Peoples March in Washington on Friday. The march coincided with the annual March for Life, an anti-abortion rally attended by some students at Covington Catholic High School in northern Kentucky.

do you ever read the post, disir or just appease the christians with your apologistic, apostolic rhetoric. -

a timely example of a christian academy ... time will play out the truth.

.

Oh, hey, wow, you can quote the story that I already told you has been debunked. I guess if you tell me their lies often enough, they'll somehow become true.

A timely example of mindless bigotry. Time has already played out the truth. Too bad you wouldn't recognize it if it crawled up your pants leg.

The wife of the Vice President of the United States can support any beliefs she wants to, even if they contradict YOUR clearly-stated opinions about the only possibly acceptable beliefs anyone can be allowed to hold. "Wife of the Vice President" is another way of saying "completely private citizen who doesn't owe you jack". No one cares what "good message" you think people should be required. Would it shock you to know that I think YOUR message is evil and immoral? Would it shock you to know that my opinion holds just as much value as yours?

"The Pences" are not in public office; Mike Pence is. Mrs. Pence is not an elected official. And while you're wailing and hollering that people should be required to pretend to YOUR beliefs because "We pay taxes!" somehow gives you the right to dictate every aspect of someone's life, you should consider that Christians pay taxes, as well. We also vote, much as you probably hate that.

Thanks for sharing your "1984" utopian vision, but we'll pass.
