Athletes have very short careers. They also don't get a golden parachute when career is over. Plus they aren't paying workers. It's some really rich guy paying them to feed his ego.

Increasing ceo pay has all the same effects as increasing min wage. Why is the right ok with ceo pay increasing but not min wage? For a healthy economy both should be going up. Instead inequality is increasing and we have a stagnant economy.
