Michael Steele: Republicans at a crossroads

My main question is that , since Michael Steele has been in the trenches of the republican, why isn't he getting positive feedback from the republicans, and why is he having to take a back seat to Carson, west, or Cain?

I believe it is Obama who is at a crossroad. One path leads out of his current situation the other leads deeper in. The path he takes is HIS choice.

obama doesn't have a real choice. He can gracefully resign, or get chased around as a political cripple for the next 3 years. His presidency is over.

The best thing Americans can do is send you rightwing christers to mental hospitals or gitmo, i vote gitmo!

Yeah it's the second or third post by desperate lefties while the democrat party is running for cover as the Country reels over three or four or six scandals.

I see him on the Joe Scarborough show a lot and he seems lost most of the time just like the co-host Mee Ker...

Michael S is talking tough talk that the far right resents: ignore the truth, Ruth Republican, and you will get your ass handed to you in 2014.

The GOP switched from being a sometimes decent party to a group of nutters that have no ideas

What ideas do the Democrats have? Their policies are nothing more than recycled socialism that has yet to succeed. The problem with the Democrats ideas is just like past governments who have tried them, eventually you run out of other people's money.

and can only explode in fauxrage every other day.

No, that is the Democrats play on emotion specialty. Look no further than the sequester, the faux outrage by Democrats over a 2% deduction from an increase in spending. And did they ever want people to believe their faux outrage by deliberately going after the few government services people want.

Just remember, it was a Democrat who said, never let a good crisis go to waste! Nuff said.

They continue to make themselves look like a group of people that hate America.

:cuckoo: It's looking like you and others were a little premature here. Michael Steele is the voice of reason lately.

Did you miss the 2010 Dem Shallacking?

Republicans are at a crossroads: Continue to run Big Government Moderates like McCain and Romney and lose big or get back to or Freedom and small government roots and Win Big

Tough choice

Here's a nice article from Michael Steele. I wonder why he seems to play a second role to Cain, Carson, and West? I think his message is a good one.

GOP ‘lost its voice’

Republicans lost their voice on the things that mattered not long after the 2004 elections; and by 2008 that gap between our rhetoric and our actions had grown to the point that our credibility had completely snapped. From the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to the implosion of the nation’s economy, more and more Americans began to view the party as out of step with the direction they believed the country should be heading. To make matters worse, what many inside and outside the arty failed to understand was it wasn’t the fault of our ideals or the principles we espoused, but rather the failure of our leadership to honor those principles.

Over time, our principles had morphed into baser motives. We became more interested in red vs. blue state politics, egged on by political know-it-alls and high-priced consultants. The net effect of their “leadership” diminished the noble vision of the Party of Lincoln—the party I had joined at the tender age of 17—as the GOP became the party of big government Republicanism.

It should be no secret to Republicans by now that the country has changed and continues to do so. You don’t need to spend a million bucks to figure that out. Nor do Republicans have to keep repeating “we need to reach out to [fill in the blank].” Shut up and do it already!

Why didn't Steele try to change things when he was GOP Party Chairman in 2009-2010?

Steele new that the only reason he ever got that position was the SHOCK of Obama being elected had the GOP scrambling. The entire time he was in there he was under attack from the tea party. No surprise there. Notice how he out performed Priebus but the tea party attacked him but praised Priebus? Why is that?

Actions and words.

he still lost his job anyway

The first chance they had to get rid of him they did. He performed great at that position but gave it to Priebus without hesitation. Can anyone explain this? Preibus performed worse and still was re-elected.........this is very confusing? Yet Steele covers for these people that did him like a dog? This too is confusing.

I go so back so far that I can actually remember when the DEMS and REPs were people I could actually admire, even if I didn't entirely agree with their POVs.

[Did you miss the 2010 Dem Shallacking?

2010 was a detour and 2012 the American population said emphatically "no" to the TPM.

You all in the far right and libertarian wings of our GOP need to understand that the mainstream will not go your way next year.

Right now it seems that the only thing that is fueling the Republican Party is the hatred of Obama and Democrats.

The American people want more than just hatred. Just snarling and foaming at the mouth about how bad the other guys are isn't enough. They are going to have to commit themselves to real leadership. They are going to have to express a clear vision and present a clear path toward bringing that vision about. "The opposite path of those guys" is just not enough.

I believe there is a more conservative path than the one we are on that Americans will embrace if true statesmen lead them there. Hyper-partisan hacks spewing vitriolic hyperbole isn't gonna get it done.

Detour? Winning a detour?

Earth to Jake. Earth to Jake

Jake to Frank. You guys cost us the presidency, you guys increased the Democratic hold in the Senate, you guys lost us seats in the House. And you think we will let you have any say in the national tickets in 2016 and most of the House seats next year?

I'm more cynical. I think there are 20 or so billionaires who simply don't want to pay taxes, and who find it cheaper to fund tea party types.
