Before impeachment process started for Nixon, 20% of voters approved of impeaching Nixon. Before the impeachment process starts for Trump, 40% favor impeachment.
The proceedings changed the minds of voters that about 60% to 65% favored impeaching at the time he resigned.
35% of voters supported Nixon when he resigned. Not many of those 35% would admit it today if they are alive.

We will see. Trump and Nixon are being accused of the same crime; trying to influence an election they are running in. To do so, however you do it, is grounds for impeachment. Nixon broke into Watergate to get intel on Democratic candidates to hopefully influence McGovern as the favored candidate. Nixon wanted to run against McGovern. Trump is being accused of usinf the influence of his office to bring down the Democratic candidate that all polls showed would beat him. There is much more evidence to come out.
