Mine does

We had a kid go to the olympics and the whole community claimed she belonged to us. We provided athletic opportunities when she was young and were justly proud

Our High School Football team won the state championship, our whole community took credit. We provided facilities and coaching staff that made it possible

We have kids graduate our High School and go to Harvard, MIT or the Military Academies and the whole community is proud of the public education we have provided

Yes, those children belong to our community and we are proud of them

Right_winger, I dare you to go to the heart of a Democratic stronghold, like Times Square, New York City, and even try to convince that crowd of your argument.

There are two major problems with this post.

1. "Marxism" doesn't mean what you think it does. Marxism calls for a stateless society, not a society in which the State is supreme. "Marxism" has more in common with anarchy than anything else - and the state "having primacy over children" would NOT be considered a "Marxist" ideal in any way.

2. Neither Melissa Perry or I have put forth the idea that "the state" or "the community" has "primacy" over children before parents.

The post-capitalist era of "Communism" that Marx suggested was an inevitable end result (otherwise known as "Stateless Communism" or "Pure Communism") is a stateless society where the entire world works together in harmony, not a society with an all-powerful centralized state.

And yes, that is exactly what she said. She said directly that we need to get over the notion that children belong to their parents and once we embrace the collective idea that children belong to the community then we will be better enlightened.

Nothing in that statement implies that "the community" should or would have "primacy" over the parents.

You could not be more wrong or any more poorly educated. You clearly have no idea what you are talking about, but instead are just regurgitating what someone told you once. Try reading the book. The "live in harmony" stage was nothing but Marx's interpretation of the state and the populace becoming one. The fact that he sees the state as having primacy over the individual is made clear in the fact that he sees the need to first go through socialism to reach his idea. His ideal is little more his socialist stage write large - very large.

And you are now living in self-denial if you think separating the notion that children belong to their parents and replacing it with the notion that children belong to the state/community is not an outright expression of primacy of the state over the individual.

And living in a state of self-denial is one of the things Marxists do best.

"You're teaching your children the wrong [insert: conservative/Christian/liberta*rian/etc] things, so since they are collective children, you have no real right to keep them. We will take them off your hands and raise them 'properly' for you."

Also, I can guarantee this philosophy will be used as a method of gun control:
"Any parent licensed or registered to possess weapons threats the well being and welfare of their children, thus you must surrender custody of your children if you wish to keep and bear arms."

Liberals are generally NOT outraged by government intrusion in their lives. Liberals have little sense of personal freedoms and unshackled lifestyles. Liberals would be perfectly happy with cradle to grave government provisions for all public needs (the needs being determined by the government).
