NATO

Jobs.
GDP.

Things that the (R) party used to care about.

Given the tenor of the times : Putin is afraid the "west" has to much power along Russia's border...HE believes NATO a threat to Russia, is Putin over reacting? Given Korea, Vietnam or Iraq?
Isn't NATO the coalition Biden is bragging about?

NATO is the defensive coalition of democratic nations that Trump sniveled about and declared obsolete. His savvy genius has been very pissy about it as well.

Putin's perfidy is a recruitment drive for NATO.

As Russia’s grinding war pulverizes eastern Ukraine and eats away at the global economy, it is also creating unintended consequences for President Vladimir V. Putin, whose aggression is giving rise to a stronger, Western-aligned security architecture in Europe, the very thing the Russian leader had hoped to weaken.
Finland’s leaders announced on Thursday that their country should “apply for NATO membership without delay,” while Swedish leaders are expected to do the same within days. It is a remarkable shift by two nations on Russia’s doorstep that had long remained nonaligned militarily — but where public opinion has lurched strongly toward joining the alliance in the 11 weeks since Russia invaded Ukraine...
Although NATO is expected to admit both nations, the process could take a year or longer, leaving them vulnerable to Russian retaliation while they are not covered under the alliance’s collective defense pact.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson of Britain sought on Wednesday to fill that gap, signing security agreements with Finland and Sweden that committed Britain, one of Europe’s strongest militaries, to defending them if attacked — even if they ended up not joining NATO.

Trump just wanted those countrys to follow NATO rules and pay their share. Stupid shill.

NATO also provides Putin with an 'out' re his domestic propaganda; he can save some face over his pathetic performance in Ukraine by claiming he is overwhelmed by NATO interference and it's not his fault the Russians are paper tigers in real life. The patriots will eat it up as an excuse and he can keep playing The Victim in his domestic follies.

NATO is a relatively powerless, leaderless mess that unscrupulous politicians sometimes use to their advantage for propaganda purposes. Everybody cheered when Bill Clinton convinced NATO to bomb Yugoslavia for no other reason than deflect attention from sexual abuse allegations. Now that the U.S. is relatively leaderless, it doesn't take a military genius to see that NATO is struggling for credibility.

Uhhh, NATO was not involved in any of those conflicts.

Both Korea and Iraq were UN operations. Vietnam was SEATO.

If you want to have a serious discussion, you really need to start out with some actual facts and not simply making things up.
