Newly formed Islamist group gets face smashed in Aleppo

Russian Jets Strike ISIS in East Aleppo to Propel the Syrian Army’s Advance on Kuweires Airbase

"For the first time since their arrival in Syria, the Russian Air Force launched a series of airstrikes above the Aleppo Governorate’s eastern countryside, targeting the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham’s (ISIS) positions along the Deir Hafer-Aleppo Highway while the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) attacks the terrorist group on the ground.

On Thursday morning, the Syrian Arab Army – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) – conducted a powerful assault on ISIS’ positions at ‘Ayn Sabl, resulting in their capture of the southwestern perimeter of this town that is located to the east of Tal Rayman and Al-Salihiyah.

Assisting the Syrian Armed Forces from above was none other than the Russian Air Force, as they reportedly struck ISIS’ positions in east Aleppo with remarkable precision and relentless ferocity; these airstrikes also marked the first time that Russia physically participated in this four year long Syrian Conflict.

The Russian Air Force was also seen flying above the Rif Dimashq, Latakia and Hama Governorates, on Thursday morning, but all of their jets reportedly returned back to the Hmamiyat Military Airport in the Syrian coastal city of Jableh.

According to a senior officer in the Syrian Arab Army, these Russian airstrikes were coordinated with the Syrian Arab Air Force (SAAF), who launched their own raids along the Raqqa-Deir Ezzor Highway."

YPG Cuts Off the Islamist Rebels Main Supply Route to Aleppo

"On Sunday morning, the predominately Kurdish “People’s Protection Units” (YPG) responded to the recent aggression from the Syrian Al-Qaeda faction “Jabhat Al-Nusra” and their allies inside the Sheikh Maqsoud District of Aleppo City by obstructing the aforementioned Islamist group’s main supply route on the Castillo Highway to the provincial capital.

Over the weekend, the Kurdish resistance force came under attack by the Islamist rebel groups of Jabhat Al-Nusra, Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, and Harakat Nour Al-Deen Al-Zinki inside the Sheikh Maqsoud Distict in what seems to be an attempt by the Jihadist factions to display their frustration with the YPG over protests and their unwillingness to collude with their forces.

The YPG did not sit idly; instead, they launched a powerful attack on the Islamist rebel fighters entrenched along the strategic Castillo Highway that travels through the Sheikh Maqsoud District of Aleppo City; this assault prompted the militants of Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, Jabhat Al-Nusra, and Harakat Nour Al-Deen Al-Zinki to withdrawal north towards Tal Oweija.

If the Islamist rebel groups cannot recapture or implement a ceasefire over the territory they lost along the Castillo Highway, they will find themselves in a world of trouble inside the provincial capital, as the Syrian Armed Forces have recently deployed over 2,000 soldiers to Aleppo City.

This is not the first time the Islamist rebels have displayed aggression towards the YPG; however, they have been repeatedly beaten back by the aforementioneded Kurdish militia after a brief engagement."

Russians Lead the Battle in East Aleppo: Syrian Army Advances Towards the Kuweires Military Airport

"The Russian military advisors overseeing the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) battle against the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) inside the Deir Hafer Plains of east Aleppo have recently intensified the ground operations at this volatile front in order to accelerate the lifting of the two year long siege at the Kuweires Military Airport.

With the Russians leading the operations from the command room, the Syrian Arab Army’s Special Forces and the civilian-led “National Defense Forces” (NDF) have benefitted immensely from their guidance.

In fact, this logistical assistance from their Russian military advisors has propelled the Syrian Armed Forces to advance along the southwestern axis of the Kuweires Military Airport, resulting in the recent capture of Al-Salihiyah after fierce firefights with the terrorist group.

While their logistical support has been imperative, the Russians have also deployed a number of reconnaissance drones inside the Deir Hafer Plains to capture footage of the terrorist group’s movements along the Kuweires Military Airport’s frontlines.

The Russian military will soon be joined by the Syrian Arab Army’s “Cheetah Brigades” of the prestigious “Tiger Forces”; this SAA unit is likely to lead the charge against the terrorist group that is in control of most of this territory that stretches as far east as the provincial capital of Al-Raqqa."

Anti-ISIS Coalition’s Incompetance Endangers Aleppo City

"The U.S. backed Islamist rebels of Jabhat Al-Shamiyah (Levantine Front) and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) are facing a serious threat north of Aleppo City, as the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) have renewed their offensive at the imperative Aleppo Infantry Academy after a brief hiatus at this volatile front in northern Syria.

ISIS launched a powerful assault on the Islamist rebels’ defenses at the Aleppo Infantry Academy’s northern perimeter after they advanced further south as a result of their previous offensive in August that paved the way for their forces to attack the Jabhat Al-Shamiyah and Free Syrian Army’s positions at this strategic site.

If ISIS were to capture the Aleppo Infantry Academy from the Islamist rebels of Jabhat Al-Shamiyah and the Free Syrian Army; this will be a disaster for the U.S. led Anti-ISIS Coalition, as the terrorist group will have effectively expanded as far south as the provincial capital of the Aleppo Govenrorate.

Moreover, the Anti-ISIS Coalition’s failure to forestall the expansion of the terrorist group will now force the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) to have to deter ISIS’ forces if they reach the provincial capital; this would benefit the Islamist rebels attacking west Aleppo because the Syrian Armed Forces are in control of the territory south of the Infantry Academy."

Tense Situation in Aleppo City as the Islamist Rebels Attack the Kurds at Sheikh Maqsoud

"The Islamist rebels from the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra”, Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, Liwaa Suqour Al-Jabal, and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) have continued to carry out attacks on the predominately Kurdish “People’s Protection Units” (YPG) inside the Sheikh Maqsoud District of Aleppo City, firing multiple mortar shells and rockets in the direction of the Castillo Highway that was cutoff by the aforementioned militia.

According to field reports from the YPG, the Islamist rebels of Jabhat Al-Nusra, Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, the Free Syrian Army, and Liwaa Suqour Al-Jabal carried out an attack on the Kurdish militia while they were traveling along the Castillo Highway; this abrupt attack resulted in 1 YPG killed and another 6 wounded-in-action (WIA).

Recently, the situation inside the predominately Kurdish district of Sheikh Maqsoud has become extremely tense due to the Islamist rebel fighters indiscriminately targeting civilian neighborhoods and their sporadic attacks on the YPG contingents manning the checkpoints inside this area of Aleppo City; this is the only district in the provincial capital that is not controlled by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) or Islamist rebels.

The YPG has not declared war against the Islamist rebels; however, if this aggression continues, it will be difficult to imagine the YPG remaining neutral to these Islamist fighters that rely on the Sheikh Maqsoud District to resupply and reinforce their entrenched fighters in Aleppo City."

Syrian Army Reinforcements Pour into East Aleppo and Northern Homs: Massive Offensive Awaits

"Hundreds of soldiers from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), the National Defense Forces (NDF), and other pro-government militias poured into the provinces of Aleppo and Homs on Monday morning, as they prepare for two massive offensives against the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” and the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS).

The first wave of reinforcements were sent from the National Defense Forces stronghold of Masyaf in east Tartous to the Syrian Government’s stronghold at Al-Safira in east Aleppo; these men have joined the entrenched soldiers from the Syrian Arab Army’s “Cheetah Forces” (Tiger Forces branch) that have already began an operation to lift the two year long ISIS siege of the Kuweries Military Airport.

According to a military source in Aleppo City, the total number of soldiers from the Syrian Arab Army that have been deployed to the western countryside of the Deir Hafer Plains is reportedly as high as 4,500 military personnel.

These military personnel will not be alone, however: the Russian Air Force is providing the Syrian Arab Army with necessary air cover against the ISIS terrorists that are spread across this rugged terrain inside the Deir Hafer Plains of east Aleppo.

Meanwhile, in the Homs Governorate’s northern countryside, the Syrian Arab Army sent over 300 military personnel to the Hama-Homs axis in order to reinforce the soldiers that are preparing to launch a full-scale operation to capture the Al-Rastan Plains of Homs.

Similar to the east Aleppo front, the terrain in northern Homs is very rugged and very difficult to travel through; if the Syrian Armed Forces were to capture this imperative area, they will need every bit of assistance from the Russian Air Force."

ISIS at the Doorsteps of Aleppo After Capturing the Infantry School

"On Thursday night, the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) renewed their offensive against the Islamist rebels of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and Jabhat Al-Shamiyah (Levantine Front) in northern Aleppo after a one month hiatus.

Surprising the Free Syrian Army and Jabhat Al-Shamiyah with powerful assault at night, ISIS stormed the Islamist rebels main base at the Aleppo Infantry Academy; this large facility is wedged between the terrorist group to north and the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) to the south.

The terrorist group took complete control of the Aleppo Infantry Academy this morning after they killed dozens of combatants from the Free Syrian Army and Jabhat Al-Shamiyah.

As a result of ISIS’ success on Friday morning, they have now moved their frontlines to the outer edges of the provincial capital, as both Jabhat Al-Shamiyah and the Free Syrian Army retreat southwest of the Aleppo Infantry School.

In addition to the capture of the Aleppo Infantry School, ISIS also took control of Tal Farah, Fafin, and Tal Sawsin after intense firefights with Jabhat Al-Shamiyah and the Free Syrian Army on Friday morning.

If ISIS captures the two villages of Babinis and Kafr Saghir, they will have the Sheikh Najjar Industrial District of Aleppo City surrounded from two sides (eastern and northern flanks)."

Russian Air Force Propels the Syrian Army in East Aleppo: Jabboul City Captured from ISIS

"On Friday afternoon, the Syrian Arab Army’s “Cheetah Forces” (Tiger Forces Unit) – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) – surprised the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) with a powerful assault on their stronghold at Jabboul City in the Aleppo Governorate’s eastern countryside, killing a confirmed 26 enemy combatants and destroying 4 armored vehicles mounted with a 23mm anti-aircraft machine gun.

In order to enter this ISIS stronghold, the Cheetah Forces needed sufficient air cover; this was provided by the Russian Air Force, who not only provided this air cover, but also, forced the terrorist group to tactically retreat from the city-center to the eastern district in order to avoid the relentless onslaught from the fighter jets swarming their defensive positions.

Following a brief firefight with ISIS at the east district, the Syrian Armed Forces imposed full-control over Jabboul City, marking the first time in three years that they have not only entered this city, but also, advanced this deep into the Aleppo Governorate’s eastern countryside.

The Syrian Armed Forces are now 3 villages away from the besieged Kuweires Military Airport inside the Deir Hafer Plains; however, despite their recent advances in east Aleppo, the SAA’s progress has not forestalled the terrorist group from carrying out daily attacks on this airbase."

Syrian Army Closes-in on the Kuweires Military Airport as the Russians Pound ISIS in East Aleppo

"For the first time since the latter part of 2012, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and their allies are within 6km of the besieged Kuweires Military Airport in the Aleppo Governorate’s eastern countryside; this news comes in three days after the Syrian Armed Forces restarted their large-scale offensive in the Deir Hafer Plains.

The primary unit leading this massive operation in east Aleppo is the Syrian Arab Army’s “Cheetah Forces” (branch of the Tiger Forces) – they are currently under the direction of Colonel Lu’ayy Sleitan and his military advisors from the Russian Marines and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Command (IRGC).

In a matter 24 hours, the Syrian Arab Army’s Cheetah Forces – in coordination with Liwaa Imam Al-Baqeer (Imam Al-Baqeer Brigades) of the National Defense Forces (NDF) and the Russian Air Force – liberated the imperative city of Jabboul (6km from the Kuweires Military Airport) after intense firefights with the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS).

With the capture of Jabboul and the advance to ‘Ayn Sabil, the Syrian Armed Forces sit only three villages away from the Kuweires Military Airport, which is approximately 6.2km from their frontlines.

Much of their success at this front in east Aleppo is owed to the Russian Air Force, who can be seen directly above the advancing soldiers from the Syrian Armed Forces.

The 300 soldiers trapped inside he Kuweries Military Airport have been confined to his area since they entered the Syrian Air Defense school at this base in 2011 – most of the men were cadets before the war."

Syrian Army Captures Kafr Tunah and Jabal ‘Antar from ISIS in Northeast Aleppo

"The Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division surprised the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) with an assault on their positions inside the town of Kafr Tunah and the small mountaintop at Jabal ‘Antar in the Aleppo Governorate’s northeastern countryside.

According to a military source in the provincial capital of Aleppo, the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) – carried out a successful assault on the terrorist group’s poor defenses in Kafr Tunah and Jabal ‘Antar, killing over 20 enemy combatants and seizing a large cache of assault rifles and ammunition in the process.

Following a brief firefight with the terrorist group, the Syrian Armed Forces imposed full control over Kafr Tunah and Jabal ‘Antar; this forced the unprepared ISIS militants to retreat north towards the Aleppo Infantry Academy in order to evade the Syrian Arab Air Force’s Hind Helicopter Gunships that were lurking around this rural area.

Kafr Tunah and Jabal ‘Antar are both located northeast of the Sheikh Najjar Industrial District; this aforementioned site in the provincial capital of Aleppo was captured from the Islamist rebels during the Syrian Arab Army’s large-scale offensive last year that was dubbed “Operation Northern Storm.”

ISIS’ recent success at the Aleppo Infantry Academy has left the Syrian Arab Army on high alert due to the aforementioned site’s proximity to the densely populated provincial capital; if the terrorist group were to enter Aleppo City, it would be through the Sheikh Najjar Industrial District."

Syrian Army Makes Huge Gains in Northern Aleppo: ISIS Loses More Territory

"On Monday morning, the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) and the Al-Ba’ath Battalions – attacked the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) at a number of sites in northern Aleppo, targeting the territory located directly west of the recently captured Aleppo Infantry Academy.

The Syrian Armed Forces attacked ISIS at Jabal ‘Antar and Kafr Tunah from their positions at the village of Duwayr Al-Zeitoun on Sunday evening and resumed their assault the following morning; this resulted in the capture of the town and the small mountaintop from the terrorist group in northern Aleppo.

Following their success at Kafr Tunah and Jabal ‘Antar, the Syrian Armed Forces launched an assault on the Aleppo Free Trade Zone and the Aleppo Juvenile Detention Center from their positions at the village of Al-Muslimiyah, killing over 15 enemy combatants from the terrorist group, while also destroying two of their armored vehicles that were mounted with a 23mm anti-aircraft machine gun.

The capture of the aforementioned sites in northern Aleppo marks the first time since January of this year that the Syrian Armed Forces have made any gains in northern Aleppo; this is also the first time that the Syrian Armed Forces and ISIS have encountered one another since the Islamist rebels withdrew from the Aleppo Infantry Academy."

ISIS in Danger at the Strategic Aleppo Infantry Academy; Syrian Army Advances North

"The Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) has had a rough 48 hours inside the Aleppo Governorate’s northern countryside, as the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) – has taken control of four imperative sites located on the outskirts of the provincial capital .

On Sunday afternoon, the Syrian Armed Forces captured the Aleppo Free Trade Zone, the Aleppo Juvenile Detention Facility, Jabal ‘Antar (mountaintop), and the town of Kafr Tunah after intense firefights with ISIS that resulted in the aforementioned terrorist group’s withdrawal to the nearby village of Fafeen in the northern Aleppo countryside.

The following day, the Syrian Armed Forces advanced to the village of Fafeen, where they were confronted by a large contingent from the terrorist group that refused to yield any territory to the encroaching enemy; however, the Syrian Armed Forces found success at the eastern perimeter of the village before sundown on Monday.

With the Syrian Armed Forces advancing to the village of Fafeen, ISIS is facing a serious threat at the recently captured Aleppo Infantry Academy, which is located on the fringes of the Sheikh Najjar Industrial District.

Currently, the Syrian Armed Forces are positioned at the southern perimeter of the Aleppo Infantry Academy; if Fafeen is captured, they will have the aforementioned site surrounded at two different flanks (western and southern flanks)."

Islamist Rebels Recapture Tal Jibeen from ISIS While the Syrian Army Targets the Aleppo Infantry Academy

"No more than an hour after losing both Tal Jibeen and Ahras in the Aleppo Governorate’s northern countryside, the Islamist rebels of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and Jabhat Al-Shamiyah (Levantine Front) launched a counter-assault against the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) in order to reclaim these lost villages and drive the aforementioned terrorist group eastward.

ISIS’ success was short-lived, as the Free Syrian Army and Jabhat Al-Shamiyah combatants were able to recapture both Tal Jibeen and Ahras after killing a number of militants from the terrorist group during their powerful counter-assault on Wednesday afternoon.

The loss of Tal Jibeen would have been detrimental to both the Islamist rebels and the Syrian Armed Forces due the fact that ISIS is now fighting along the provincial capital’s northern axis; this is a tense situation because the terrorist group is sitting at the doorsteps of the Sheikh Najjar Industrial District of Aleppo City.

Meanwhile, east of Tal Jibeen, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the National Defense Forces are standing guard at the village of Babinnis, where ISIS has recently set their sights on after capturing the Aleppo Infantry Academy.

Unfortunately for the terrorist group, they have recently lost four sites to the Syrian Arab Army and National Defense Forces in northern Aleppo; this was an attempt by the latter forces to alleviate the pressure on the northern axis of the Sheikh Najjar Industrial District.

On Wednesday, the Syrian Armed Forces launched their first barrage of missiles and mortar shells towards the Aleppo Infantry Academy in what is likely to develop into a ground assault against the terrorist group."

Breaking: Syrian Army and Hezbollah Launch Their Southern Aleppo Offensive – 4 Sites Captured

"At 10 A.M. (Damascus Time) on Friday morning, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) – in coordination with Hezbollah, the National Defense Forces (NDF), and Kata’ebat Al-Ba’ath (Al-Ba’ath Battalions) – launched their large-scale southern Aleppo offensive after almost one year of inactivity along this rural area in the Azzan Mountains.

According to field reports from the provincial capital, the Syrian Armed Forces and Lebanese Resistance captured 4 sites from the Islamist rebels of Jabhat Al-Shamiyah (Levantine Front), Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) this morning, killing a number of enemy combatants in the process of their advance in the Aleppo Governorate’s southern countryside.

The Syrian Armed Forces and Lebanese Resistance captured the villages of ‘Abtayn, Al-Wadayhi, and Qala’at Al-Najam, along with the Defense Battalion Base and the farms surrounding it; this rapid progress by the pro-government forces caught the Islamist rebels off-guard, as they frantically retreated to the southwest in order to evade the swarming enemy fighters.

In addition to the ground assault on the Islamist rebels, the Russian Air Force has come to the aid of the Syrian Armed Forces and Lebanese Resistance, carrying out at least 6 air raids on the enemy’s positions in order to propel the pro-government forces across this rugged area of the Aleppo Governorate.

The main objective of the Syrian Armed Forces/Lebanese Resistance’s southern Aleppo offensive is to recapture the ‘Azzan Mountains from the Islamist rebels, while also creating a larger buffer-zone around the Syrian Government’s only highway leading to the provincial capital."

Syrian Army Conducts a Special Operation to Cutoff the Strategic Aleppo-Raqqa Highway

"For the last two years, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) soldiers inside the Kuweires Military Airport have been under a brutal siege perpetrated by the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS); this has left the pro-government forces with a shortage of provisions and hope, as the aforementioned terrorist group has repeatedly attempted to break into this airbase from almost every flank.

With mounting pressure from the civilian population, the Syrian Arab Army’s Central Command has decided to dedicate the resources needed to lift this siege and free the soldiers trapped inside the base.

However, this operation to lift the siege on the Kuweires Military Airport would not be an easy task for the Syrian Armed Forces due to the terrorist group being heavily entrenched around the Deir Hafer Plains of the Aleppo Governorate’s eastern countryside – enter the Russian Air Force.

The Russian Air Force has been godsend for the Syrian Arab Army soldiers trapped inside the Kuweires Military Airport, as they continuously provide air cover and protection against any assault from the ISIS militants surrounding the base.

On Wednesday night, the Syrian Arab Army soldiers inside the Kuweires Military Airport struck back against the terrorist group by cutting off the imperative Aleppo-Raqqa Highway to the south of the airbase, leaving the ISIS militants entrenched at the Thermal Plant without a necessary supply route.

The Thermal Plant is one of the most important locations for the terrorist group in the western countryside of the Deir Hafer Plains, as it is strategically located on all the roads leading to ISIS’ frontline positions against the Syrian Armed Forces in east Aleppo.

Adding to ISIS’ plight in east Aleppo, the Syrian Armed Forces recaptured the town of Na’am and its imperative hilltop after intense firefights on Wednesday morning."

Breaking: Syrian Army Captures Al-Huwayjinah in East Aleppo

"Moments ago, the Syrian Arab Army’s “Cheetah Forces” (Tiger Forces branch) – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) and Kataebat Al-Ba’ath (Al-Ba’ath Battalion) – imposed full control over the village of Al-Huwayjinah after seizing the imperative hilltop of Tal Na’am during their Friday morning operations in the Aleppo Governorate’s eastern countryside.

The village of Al-Huwayjinah is located northwest of Tal Na’am and southeast of ‘Ayn Sabil; this captured village is strategically situated along the road that leads from the Deir Hafer Plains’ western countryside to the imperative city of Al-Safeera inside east Aleppo.

Over the last two weeks, the Syrian Arab Army and their allies have captured a large chunk of territory from the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) in east Aleppo; this success is part of the Syrian Armed Forces’ wide-scale offensive in the Deir Hafer Plains to lift the two year long siege imposed by ISIS at the Kuweires Military Airport.

In addition to their success at the village of Al-Huwayjinah, the Syrian Arab Army and their allies have carried out a powerful assault on the terrorist group’s positions at Burayjeh, destroying a militant hideout near the southwestern axis of this east Aleppo town.

Recently, a large convoy of reinforcements entered the Aleppo Governorate from northeast Latakia in order to assist the Syrian Armed Forces in their fight against the Islamist rebels and the terrorists of ISIS; as a result, they have achieved a significant amount of success in the last 48 hours."

Syrian Army and Hezbollah Get Off to a Wild Start in Southern Aleppo: Several Sites Captured

"On Friday morning, the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division – in coordination with Hezbollah, the National Defense Forces (NDF), Kataebat Al-Ba’ath (Al-Ba’ath Battalions), and Iraqi Shi’i militiamen – launched a wide-scale offensive inside the Aleppo Governorate’s southern countryside, targeting the western hills of the Azzan Mountains that were under the control of Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, Liwaa Suqour Al-Sham, and the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra.”

The offensive got off to a shockingly fast start in southern Aleppo, as the Syrian Armed Forces and the Lebanese Resistance took control of four sites before 10 A.M. (Damascus Time) on Friday morning; these aforementioned sites were the following: Qala’at Najam, ‘Abtayn, Al-Wadihi, and the Aleppo Defense Battalion Base.

Following their initial success in southern Aleppo, the Syrian Armed Forces and Lebanese Resistance intensified their assault on the Islamist rebel factions in the Azzan Mountains, killing scores of enemy combatants and destroying two mounted machine guns before taking full control of Al-Sabaqiyah, Hadadeen, Madajin Zeitouneh, and Thaknah Al-Kabdar.

Not long after the Syrian Armed Forces and Lebanese Resistance took control of the aforementioned villages in southern Aleppo, the Russian Air Force reappeared to strike a number of Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham targets inside the town of Al-Mansoura in the provincial capital’s western countryside.

According to Syrian Opposition social media activists, Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and Liwaa Suqour Al-Sham recaptured Al-Sabawiyah, Hadadeen, and the Defense Battalion Base; however, no proof was provided to back these claims and the field reports from the Syrian Arab Army indicated that the aforementioned sites were still under their control."

Another one bites the dust...

Senior al-Qaida commander killed in an airstrike in Syria
Oct 17,`15 -- An airstrike has killed a top al-Qaida commander and two other fighters in Syria, activists said Saturday, but it was not immediately clear whether it was carried out by the U.S.-led coalition or Russian warplanes.
The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Abdul Mohsen Abdallah Ibrahim al-Charekh, a Saudi better known as Sanafi al-Nasr, was killed Thursday in an airstrike near the northern Syrian town of Dana, along with another Saudi and a Moroccan member of al-Qaida's local affiliate, known as the Nusra Front. Russian warplanes have been carrying out airstrikes in Syria since Sept. 30. A U.S.-led coalition has been targeting the Nusra Front and the Islamic State group for more than a year. The Observatory's chief Rami Abdurrahman said it was not clear if al-Charekh was killed by U.S. or Russian warplanes. The Observatory, which relies on a network of activists inside Syria, said an Egyptian commander escaped the bombing. It said all four men had been dispatched to Syria by al-Qaida leader Ayman al-Zawahri. Jihadi activists on social media say al-Charekh was killed by a U.S. drone strike.

A U.S. official said an American drone targeted and struck al-Charekh but the U.S. was waiting for confirmation that he was actually killed in the attack. The official was not authorized to discuss the strike publicly so spoke on condition of anonymity. Al-Charekh, the alleged leader of al-Qaida's operations in Syria, was one of six men that the U.N. Security Council imposed sanctions on last year. He was 49th on a list of 85 most-wanted militants by Saudi Arabia who are outside the kingdom. The list, issued in 2009, includes 83 Saudis and two Yemenis. "America is offering its services to the Safawi (Iranian) project in the region by removing every brain who confronts this project," wrote prominent Lebanese jihadi cleric Sirajeddine Zuraiqat on Twitter. Zuraiqat is believed to be in Syria and is wanted in his home country.

The U.S. killed top al-Qaida official Muhsin al-Fadhli in an airstrike three months ago. Some Arab press reports suggested that al-Charekh was a member of the Khorasan group, a secretive cell of al-Qaida operatives who U.S. officials say were sent from Pakistan to Syria to plot attacks against the West. The Nusra Front's leader, Abu Mohammed al-Golani, has denied the existence of the Khorasan group. In Moscow, Maj. Gen. Igoro Konashenkov said Russian aircraft conducted 36 sorties over the past 24 hours, striking a total of 49 positions. He said the airstrikes were in the province of Hama, Idlib, Latakia, Damascus and Aleppo. Konashenkov said one of the targets was a building on the outskirts of the town of Salma in the coastal province of Latakia where foreign instructors prepared militants.

Islamist Rebels Issue Distress Call for Reinforcements in Southern Aleppo

"The Islamist rebel factions from the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra”, Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, Liwaa Suqour Al-Sham, and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) are being overwhelmed by the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division and Hezbollah on the ground in the Aleppo Governorate’s southern countryside, while the Russian Air Force relentlessly bombards their positions from above.

As a result of this powerful assault from the pro-government forces, the Islamist rebels have issued a distress call for reinforcements after the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division and the Lebanese Resistance entered the imperative town of Al-Shughaydilah; this is a serious issue for the Islamist rebels due to its proximity to Ahrar Al-Sham’s main base at the Scientific Research Facility (formerly the ICARDA Research Center).

According to social media activists from the Islamist rebel factions inside the Aleppo Governorate, their combatants are losing a lot of ground to the “Al-Assadi, Iranian, and Russian forces” at the entrance of Al-Hadhar; this prompted them to issue a distress call for reinforcements and TOW operators in order to forestall the advancing pro-government forces.

The rebel social media activists have also reported that a number of convoys from the Idlib Governorate have arrived to the town of Al-Hadhar; however, there is no way to confirm this news as of yet."

News Alert: Syrian Army and Hezbollah Advance to Al-Shughaydilah in Southern Aleppo

"The Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division – in coordination with Hezbollah, the National Defense Forces (NDF), and Kataebat Al-Ba’ath (Al-Ba’ath Battalions) – have advanced to the town of Al-Shughaydilah in southern Aleppo after intense firefights with the Islamist rebels of the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra”, Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, Liwaa Suqour Al-Sham, and the Free Syrian Army (FSA).

According to a military source inside the provincial capital of the Aleppo Governorate, the Syrian Armed Forces and Lebanese Resistance advanced to Al-Shughaydilah after securing the southern axis of ‘Abtayn from the Islamist rebels of Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, Liwaa Suqour Al-Sham, and Jabaht Al-Nusra; this aforementioned town is located to the southwest of Al-Shughaydilah and to the southeast of the Khan Touman Dam.

In addition to their success at the Al-Shughaydilah front, the Syrian Armed Forces and Lebanese Resistance have completely secured the imperative of Tal Shaghib near the Syrian Governorate’s only supply route to the Aleppo Governorate at the Khanasser Highway; this roadway has come under attack by the Islamist rebels of Jabhat Al-Nusra and Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham over the last four months.

The Syrian Armed Forces and Lebanese Resistance have recently captured a number of sites in the Aleppo Governorate’s southern countryside that the pro-government forces have not been in control of since the Free Syrian Army’s summer offensive in 2012.

Should the Syrian Armed Forces and Lebanese Resistance capture the town of Al-Shughaydilah, they will be approximately 20km from the Idlib Governorate’s northeastern border with the Aleppo Governorate and 25km from the Islamist rebel stronghold of Saraqib."

Breaking: Syrian Army and Hezbollah Recapture Al-Wadihi in Southern Aleppo

"Moments ago, the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division – in coordination with Hezbollah, the National Defense Forces (NDF), and Kataebat Al-Ba’ath (Al-Ba’ath Battalions) – countered the Islamist rebel assault in the Aleppo Governorate’s southern countryside, striking the enemy combatants from the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra”, Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, Liwaa Suqour Al-Sham, and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) at the village of Al-Wadihi.

Ill-prepared for the Syrian Armed Forces and Lebanese Resistance counter-assault, the Islamist rebels of Jabhat Al-Nusra, Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, Liwaa Suqour Al-Sham, and the Free Syrian Army were overwhelmed by the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division and Hezbollah at Al-Wadihi; this resulted in the aforementioned pro-government forces taking full control of this village in the Aleppo Governorate’s southern countryside.

The village of Al-Wadihi is strategically situated along the main road leading to the town of Al-Sabiqiyah in southern Aleppo; this is one of the areas that has been a thorn in the Syrian Government’s side due to its proximity to the Nayrab Military Airport that is currently patrolled by the predominately Palestinian “Liwaa Al-Quds” (Jerusalem Brigades).

The Syrian Armed Forces and Lebanese Resistance have captured more than 25km of territory in southern Aleppo; however, they have not yet achieved their military objective, which includes the capture of Khan Touman."
