I like to give Obama credit when he does the right thing.

He did the right thing.

Amid outcry over revelations that Internal Revenue Service specialists specifically targeted conservative groups for scrutiny before the 2012 elections, President Barack Obama said Monday that the tax agency employees' reported conduct was "outrageous" and "contrary to our traditions."
Appearing at a White House press conference with British Prime Minister David Cameron, the president said he does not want to judge the findings of an Inspector General investigation "prematurely" but said that if the reports of political targeting are found to be correct, those responsible must be held "fully accountable."
"If in fact IRS personnel engaged in the kind of practices that have been reported on and were intentionally targeting conservative groups, then that’s outrageous and there’s no place for it," he said

I am never impressed when any person takes a few days to come out and make these kind of statements. It's expected.

Obama knows the implications here and he has enough to deal with right now with the Benghazi investigation. I fully expected him to come out and express outrage at the IRS and distance himself from them.

This was a carefully worded statement designed to make it look like he finds this sort of thing inexcusable. I am not buying it. I just don't believe low level IRS agents all happened to come up with such a plan and even put together a special questionnaire and take the time to pick out all these groups. This went on for some time and was clearly an organized effort. Someone higher up is behind this and I hope they find out who.

They came up with the idea all on their own.

Uh huh

A Bush appointee suddenly decided to go after the Tea Party, all because of a video!

IRS admitted and apologized and Obama uses the word 'if'.
Has happened on his watch, and, of course he is gonna find these 'ifs' outrageous.

What did you expect him to do after getting caught? He's throwing them under the bus.

Obama uses the same tactic he's been using for 5 years.

Deny, deny, deny, and make self-rightious statements about bringing the guilty to justice. Yet nobody ever seems to get punished.
Maybe he can slap the cuffs on himself, because this has Barrack H. Obama written all over it. Nobody will be punished because they were just following orders.

Funny; The left can get away with blaming Bush for Abu Gharab but can't seem to put 2 and 2 together on Fast & Furious, Benghazi, the release of thousands of criminal illegals before Sequester, or this IRS witch hunt.

The IRS answers directly to the President. Clinton used them to attack political enemies and so did Nixon. They didn't do this without approval from the White House.

This is Chicago style politics at it's best. The whole bunch should be brought up on charges. Obama, Jarrett, Clinton and all the way down to the low level pencil pushing brown shirt scum at the IRS. This and Benghazi will not go away. Just think about it Obama lovers...this could be his one and only legacy with his health care plan falling apart the way it is now.

If obama was telling the truth it was the right thing. He's a compulsive liar so it doesn't mean anything.

Why do you give Obama credit for giving the ONLY response possible? He had NO CHOICE but to call it that. Not to say that he is or isn't responsible for their actions but really?

Obama on the IRS scandal:

"I think this action by the IRS is despicable and probably caused by a Youtube video!!!"

"I don't condone the IRS unfairly investigating anyone even if they are Tea Party terrorist assholes!"

"I just heard about this Friday......it did happen a long time ago so what difference does it make now!! We want to look at all of the facts and spend the next 3.5 years investigating it!!"

It is against the law and the Constitution for any federal governmental office to ask for a list of donors, for political purposes or otherwise.

Seems like BAU.
WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service is reviewing the tax-exempt status of the nation's oldest civil rights organization, saying criticism of President Bush at the NAACP's national convention in July may have violated rules against partisan activity.

NAACP Chairman Julian Bond says about the IRS probe: "We intend to fight this with every resource we have."
By Henry Koshollek, The Capital Times file

In a letter dated Oct. 8, the IRS said it had "received information" that NAACP Chairman Julian Bond "condemned the administration policies of George W. Bush on education, the economy and the war in Iraq" in a July 11 speech.

Only now when it hits something you folks care about..you um.."care".

Ohhhhhhh......we can't audit them cuz they're black now?????

If you can find a systemic attempt to go after every single African-American group in the country, then you might have something.

As it is....all you have is..phfffft.

Nice try though.......

Could that "higher up" be the same one that did the same to the NAACP back in 2004?
