Washington (CNN) Green Party nominee Jill Stein launched a bid Wednesday to seek a vote recount in three key Rust Belt states as pressure builds among liberals to challenge election results.

The Stein campaign said it needed to raise over $2 million by Friday to pay for recounts. That goal was reached by early Thursday morning, and the campaign has now increased the target to $4.5 million.

"Over the last 48-72 hours, reports have come in from experts, cyberexperts, who are reporting to us some very troubling news about the possibility of security breaches in voting results across this country," Stein campaign manager David Cobb said in a video posted to Stein's Facebook page Wednesday afternoon.

The question is: what is the purpose of the fund raising?

Maybe I'm behind the times but I was under the impression that we had tax-payer funded agencies that were responsible for conducting investigations into election tampering and tax-payer funded agencies that were responsible for recounting in the event the former agencies find credible evidence of election tampering.... so where is all the excess donated money above and beyond the filling fees going?

"The costs associated with recounts are a function of state law. Attorney's fees are likely to be another $2-3 million"

In other words, it's (yet another) lawyer enrichment scam and It's probably a pretty safe bet that Jill will be getting her cut.

Here are the filing fees and deadlines for each state:

• Wisconsin: $1.1 million by Nov 25
• Pennsylvania: $0.5 million by Nov 28
• Michigan: $0.6 million by Nov 30

Please point out which state was charging a $2 million filling fee.....and while you're at it explain how the filling fees for those 3 states add up to $4.5 million.
