During operation cast lead the Israelis fired on a rocket launch site situated next to a school, the citizens rushed out of the school to surround the rocket launcher with a human shield, some civilians were killed in the process. According to the UN and Geneva conventions the civilians ceased to be civilians and became militia/terrorists as soon as they entered into the fight.
