Pelosi Suggests Delaying State of the Union

Oh I think Nancy already suggested a great idea. Have Trump write a SOTU address and give it to Congress. That fulfills his responsibilities. I would go on national TV and give it to the public from the White House. Simply bypass the House of Representatives.

I like the idea of him hosting the State of the Union address in a venue of his choice and issuing invitations to the Congressmembers that they can come hear it, or not if they're "too afraid", but making it clear that their presence and cooperation isn't necessary. After all, so long as he sends a transcript of it to their offices afterward, his Constitutional duty is fulfilled.

And since it's HIS party, they don't get to do their usual, nauseating song and dance of inviting various meat puppets to accompany them for virtue-signaling purposes.

No.

First of all, Pelosi lied that is security issue, since she hasn't check neither with Secret Service, or DHS can they provide the security, which they both stated it wouldn't be an issue.

Second, according to the Constitution, Article 2, Section 3. State of the Union, Convening Congress:

"He shall (President) from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient; he may, on extraordinary Occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in Case of Disagreement between them, with Respect to the Time of Adjournment, he may adjourn them to such Time as he shall think proper; he shall receive Ambassadors and other public Ministers; he shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed, and shall Commission all the Officers of the United States."

... President is within his constitutional rights, and Pelosi has no right to deny him a SOTU.

#1 The Senate and House are already in session, they are not adjourned.

#2 There is no dispute with respect to the Time of Adjournment because neither the Senate or House is attempting to adjourn without the agreement of the other.

#3 You are confusing convening a Congress that has adjourned with being able to demand time on the floor of the House of Representatives. He can only appear in the House with the permission of the House. Trump is a President a separate branch of government, not a dictator.

#4 With your last sentence you are correct. Pelosi has no constitutional right to deny the President the ability to deliver the SOTU. However the SOTU does not have to be delivered by speech on the House floor. Trump can send a written SOTU anytime he wants and as a matter of fact that is how the SOTU was delivered until 1912. He can also make a SOTU speech from the Oval Office and then deliver a transcript and a copy of the video to Congress. Peolsi cannot deny him a SOTU communications, she can deny him the use of the House floor.

SOTU was a written letter to Congress for a very long time.

Correct. President can write the letter. Or may just deliver SOTU speech on the House floor, as Constitution allows him. Speaker have no power over constitutional rights.

President can write the letter.
Haha, I sure hope he does. Without assistance.

Keep your hopes high, leftie.

He can deliver SOTU at his demand in Congress and there is nothing that Pelosi can do to prevent him.
LOLOL

Uh, no, he can’t.

US Constitution, Article 2, section 3. - check it out.

Dumbfuck, that refers to “extraordinary Occasions,” such as needing the Congress to convene while on recess when a national emergency arises.

Delivering the state of the union is not an extraordinary occasion.

Maybe it would, maybe not...
Oh, there is no maybe. He wasn't exactly a wordsmith to begin with, and his mental degradation over these past few years has reduced his language and intellectual ability to that of about a 9-year old.

Why would I want to do anything about it? It’s his constitutional obligation to deliver the state of the union to the Congress and he should do that. I’m not against that.

The question is ... from where will he deliver it? Pelosi does hold the gavel to prevent him from speaking from the dais on the House floor. And there is nothing Trump can do about that.

What is the title of the article, soyboy?

State of the Union, Convening Congress

And "extraordinary occasion" can be whatever president deem to be extraordinary.

A common occurrence is not an extraordinary occasion. Not even trump, who claims to have all the best words, can spin that one.

He’s an invited guest to the floor of the House and Pelosi's in charge of the invitations.
