POLL: The GOP and "Socialism"

How long before the Right realizes the term "socialism" no longer scares people?

Our conservative posters continue to start thread after thread pertaining to "socialism". And even though their exact definitions are fairly unclear, it's obvious they think that screaming SOCIALISM is, by itself, enough to win a debate.

As most of us can see, more and more people are becoming perfectly comfortable with the word - in part, no doubt, because the Right has completely over-used and diluted it.

How long before the Right realizes the term "socialism" no longer scares people?

Socialism is Big Brother, big government, threat to individual liberty. American people understand that. Bernie Sanders is a dip shit.

Socialism should scare people.

Again, since we appear to be ignoring definitions, there's no way to know.

I'm still waiting to hear how the government controlling which restaurants can open is a safety net for those in need.
It's not.
.
And yet everything being pointed out is the Lefts love of socialism. The latest:

Senate Democrats Are Circulating Plans for Government Takeover of the Internet: Reason Roundup
The Democrats are using Russian meddling and 3D printing as an excuse to take over the net.

"A leaked memo circulating among Senate Democrats contains a host of bonkers authoritarian proposals for regulating digital platforms, purportedly as a way to get tough on Russian bots and fake news. To save American trust in "our institutions, democracy, free press, and markets," it suggests, we need unprecedented and undemocratic government intervention into online press and markets, including "comprehensive (GDPR-like) data protection legislation" of the sort enacted in the E.U."

Bernie Sanders and Karl Marx - neither one has ever worked a day in their lives.

The real problems with socialism are rarely discussed. The debate usually breaks down at the "you're not taking my stuff" level, but that's only the tip of the iceberg. It isn't just wealth that socialists want control over. They want government to hold the bulk of economic power in society, rather than individuals. And I don't think Americans, especially the younger set, really appreciate what that means. Economic freedom just sounds like an excuse for greedy people to do their thing. But in reality it touches everything we do.

Very vague stuff there.

At what point does government become "big", precisely?
.

.

When it grants itself the power to seize whatever it wants ...
Spend whatever it wants ...
And still cannot manage to balance the books ...

Very well stated.

Short Version:
Socialism … Being a rock collector.
Capitalism … Selling the rocks collected.

The biggest difference ...
How much of either a person has to invest in both ...
To get the return they are looking for.

.
Ridiculous, you clearly lack even the most basic idea of political economy.

Socialism.....collecting a rock, making something useful out of it and retaining the full value of what was produced.

Capitalism......collecting a rock, having someone else make something useful out of it and retaining for yourself a portion of the value that was produced.
