President Obama on Trayvon Martin

Kennedy was charged with leaving the scene of an accident; it cost him a chance at the presidency. I would never have voted for him after that; should he have been charged with a more serious crime? I was too young at the time to have an opinion. Foley wasn't charged, nor was Cheney. No deaths in those cases.

It cost him the Presidency? Poor guy, he cost Mary Jo her life, if you had the choice would you choose the Presidency or your life? I'm thinking she would have chose life.

No doubt. He's dead now also.

Really? Would you rather live as long as Kennedy did or as long as Mary Jo? You seem very dismissive about the death of Mary Jo. If Kennedy's poor judgement and depraved indifference to life was that he couldn't win the Presidency, then he got off cheaply. Us 99%ers cannot buy or use our name to sway justice.

"If I had a son he would look like him"

Really? And that is important to this case how exactly? Such blatant race based comments are really not needed to turn an outraged public into something worse. I guess we just never learn anything in the highest levels of govt in our country.

Also on a side note I saw Al Sharpton speaking at a rally last night on this issue. That man is w disgrace and msnbc should be embarrassed.

From my perspective the trigger man should be tried and let his peers determine his guilt. Looks guilty of murder to me but i don't know all the facts.

If Zimmerman has a so-so lawyer, he gets off on mistrial.

Since big 0 has to win re-election, he couldn't keep his fucking mouth shut. So now there is no place in the US that he can be tried and expect a fair trial.

So, the very ones that are preaching civil right, the very ones screaming racial inequities, are the same ones that could in effect damage Zimmerman's civil right to a fair trial or even cause a mistrial.

Obama never even mentioned Zimmerman. He spoke about the victim

I'm sitting here watching Meet The Press and what a joke it is. They keep talking about racial profiling and the civil rights movement of the 60's.

The damn perp is a latino!

Half of the show is about whites vs blacks.

Obama's entire answer to the Martin question:

"But obviously, this is a tragedy. I can only imagine what these parents are going through. And when I think about this boy, I think about my own kids. And I think every parent in America should be able to understand why it is absolutely imperative that we investigate every aspect of this, and that everybody pulls together — federal, state and local — to figure out exactly how this tragedy happened.
So I’m glad that not only is the Justice Department looking into it, I understand now that the governor of the state of Florida has formed a task force to investigate what’s taking place. I think all of us have to do some soul searching to figure out how does something like this happen. And that means that examine the laws and the context for what happened, as well as the specifics of the incident.
But my main message is to the parents of Trayvon Martin. If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon. And I think they are right to expect that all of us as Americans are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves, and that we’re going to get to the bottom of exactly what happened."

The preferred answer? ..."Obviously a tragedy as a young person has lost his life...but let the due course of law with the investigation going on as the Governor of Florida has initiated come to a conclusion, and we'll go from there..."

Only by white conservative Obama haters such as yourself. But you don't run this country.

And you know I'm white...How?

And how is my statement not prudent? Why does Obama have to add all the fluff? It was once stated by William Shakespeare that " brevity is the soul of wit..."

Perhaps the learned Obama, never studied him, and if he did? Didn't pay heed. :dunno:

Since when does the president comment on local shootings? When one is the president and the victim is black and the the shooter is hispanic? Brings back memories when a white officer tried to stop an an apparent called in break in from a neighbor) when it was his friend Gates breaking into his own house and Gates called it racism and the president called that racism.

Just when will this president keep his nose on the country's economy and joblessness and stop this racial divide?

Why this shooter was not arrested for shooting a young man with skittles and a tea in hand is beyond me, but it is not for the president to butt in. I personally do not care what a son of his would LOOK like if he had one, and it has no bearing on this case.
I'd like to think he has more important things to weigh in on than local and states issues.
