CDZ Programs opposed by Conservatives that were successes

The only government program that is an unqualified success is the GI Bill educational program for vets...you must provide service to even become eligible, then you must complete the courses the pay you for taking...pass or fail...if you don't finish, withdraw, or take an incomplete, they will get their money back...There are any number of successes that came from that program...can you point to any success stories from social security?
I can point to hundreds of millions of success stories from Social Security

Social Security is the cornerstone of Americans retirement

Bullshit...Social security made retirement for Americans a nightmare...a system in which most of us are forced to contribute for our entire working lives and if we are lucky we may see a 2.5% return on our investment. You think that is a good deal? I have no problem with mandated retirement contributions...but not to the government.
Prior to Socual Security there was no retirement. You worked till you died

In addition to SS there are also tax free 401ks

Cutting Medicare or Medicaid is political suicide....voters are watching this like Hawks.

Okay. Who is going to do it and when?

There was no retirement AFTER Social Security. As you know, it was never intended to be a retirement plan.

What was the average life expectancy when Social Security started paying benefits?

What was the age requirement for a beneficiary to begin receiving benefits?

Medicare
Sccial Security
Environmental Protection
OSHA
Americans with Disabilities Act
Affirmative Action
Gay Rights

Conservatives fought tooth and nail against all of them, but they have proven to be such successes that even Republicans support them today
Affirmative action is like racist discrimination, right? Even nonwhites like Chinese hate that.
Social security is a big scam.
Not sure about OSHA
Gay should be legal. The rest is up to the free market.

What do you mean by success?

Clearly you don't have a 401k...or if you do, you don't understand how it works...you may be able to put money into it before taxes, but you pay taxes on it when you start taking the money out at retirement..

Typical of leftists...you hate the system but don't even understand the basics...you just want something different which you also don't know anything about...Any student of history knows that socialism simply doesn't work..but do feel free to point to any socialist country which has achieved anything like the success that the US has...I'll wait.

It will be fun to watch the fallout of the first administration that tries to cut Some, Medicare, and Medicaid. It won't happen for a long time.

65, it was moved to 67
Needs to move to 70

Increase annual threshold to $250 k

SS, plus a 401k, plus a paid off house makes a healthy retirement

Raising the age to 70 for those under 30 will not create much fallout

I’m drawing on a 401k now and paying taxes on it. Not having to pay taxes allowed me to build quite a nest egg
If you don’t like paying taxes ...try a Roth

Doing things to help the People is not Socialism

All of those were boondoggles and are going bankrupt....but thanks for playing....and don't drink the water in the river the EPA polluted.....

Affirmative racism? Where people are given special access because of the color of their skin? You approve of racism like that?
The. Perhaps you loons should stop redistributing income to the top 1%.

You’ve never been very bright

Wasn’t the epa created by Nixon?
It was. But that was before the GOP became insane. Nixon couldn’t get through your primary now. He was too smart for “the base”
Can you believe EPA received almost unanimous support?

Don’t know if many Republicans would vote for protecting the environment today

Ask if they want to give up SS

There has always been retirement for those who save for it.

If you spend all your pay you will work until you die and let's not forget that when SS was enacted most people died before 70

Revisionist accounting

Social Security is not a pay as you go retirement plan. If it was, the first retirees under SS would not have drawn full benefits until 1980

It was designed to provide benefits to old people immediately. Regardless of whether they had paid a lifetime or not

But most workers did not have the luxury of building huge savings back in the 1930s. Hard enough time putting food on the table

SS provided an opportunity to retire and still have an income coming in
