Putin spent millions on the NordStream pipeline to bypass the Ukraine and prevent them from futher theft of gas and oil, but the pipeline terminated in Germany.
And yesterday, Germany said they won't allow that pipeline to be used.
So then Putin has no choice but to conduct regime change in the Ukraine, in order to stop future thefts on the only pipelines Putin can count on.
Putin also can not allow the Ukraine to go NATO on Russia's border.

It seems this is a sort of “come to Jesus “ moment for the Republicans and Trump supporters. It looks like some get it and are unashamed to support freedom and democracy abroad while others are happy to toe the Trump line for cheap points. I’m more concerned with the broad middle. I’m taking their uneasy silence as tacit support for our president while cautiously awaiting the outcome but always ready to pounce. While this is by no means a sea change it is at least a willingness to suspend partisan hackery during a time of real crisis. It’s not a win yet but it’s at least baby steps in the right direction. It shows that at a minimum, we still have the ability, albeit under duress, to at least recognize a middle ground.
