Rand Paul says vaccines can lead to "mental disorders."

I can't vote for folks who make idiotic statements like that. Christie is walking his back on parental rights concerning vaccination. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

It's why they are making these comments in the first place that is the problem.

The Libertarian disease that has infected the GOP is one that believes the Government doesn't have a compelling right to require citizens to do something. This is a hands down example of where it clearly does and should.

But when you are a Teabagging loon wearing a tri-corner hat and pining for the days of the Founding Fathers, you scream "Freeeeedom" when some socialist says you need to vaccinate your kid.

NOw, I'm going to give Paul some credit. He's a second generation batshit crazy person who really believes this shit.

Christie, your new hero, is just pandering to it. Until he realized how silly he looked and tried to walk it back.

I wonder what your average young mom thinks when she hears these scare tactics? I still have to think that autism would be much, much more wide spread if it was caused by vaccinations.

And, are there really MORE cases, or are they just more proficient at diagnosing autism nowadays?
i'm extremely cynical when it comes to stuff like this - but when a parent gets their kid a diagnosis, whatever it might be, that lets them off the hook for being a parent.

not that everyone is that way, or that even most are, but sometimes i wonder how often that happens.

Well, I know there are different types autism, some cases are worse than others. I don't really know how they diagnose it. I don't think it's like ADHD though, which it seems SO many children are diagnosed with. I've seen a check list for ADD, and some of the questions they are just silly. Things that I think most kids experience from time to time and certainly doesn't indicate ADHD. Autism is a more clinical diagnosis I think though, than just a psychiatric type of diagnosis.

That stupid list for ADD isn't a real test. There is a real test for ADD and other disorders.

I had my daughter take that test because the school wanted to diagnose her with ADD.

It's a very long test it takes several hours.

There are two parts to ADD. Audio and Visual.

The result for our child was that she did have the audio part. However the doctor said that it's common for it to go away on it's own as our daughter gets older that her brain won't be fully developed until she's in her 20s. She's 16 now and we've seen the changes as she's grown older. Contrary to what the school wanted, we didn't drug her.

As a result she's now in the Running Start program. Which is for juniors and seniors in high school. They go to college and take college courses so that the time they're done with high school they not only had their high school diploma but their first 2 years of college done or if they choose, an AA degree.

I wish more people knew about that test. It would save a lot of kids from having to go through hell from drugs and teachers in school.

Many of the Texas ISDs are beginning social science programs demonstrating the incompetency of libertarianism as a political and governing philosophy.

About time, and I hope it spreads to other states quickly.

If other people don't want to get vaccinated and want to take their chances of getting some terrible disease, then I don't really care, as long as those of us who are vaccinated are protected.

The problem with that is babies.

Babies aren't old enough to have vaccinations. So if the baby's parents take them to a school function for their older child and one child there who isn't vaccinated has a disease that child can spread it to that baby and that baby will die.

How about if I put it in the selfish terms that you seem to be expressing above.

You maybe vaccinated but your new born baby isn't. In fact your baby won't start to get vaccinations for months or even as much as a year. You take your baby to your older child's school play. Without your knowledge, a child there who isn't vaccinated has the measles and spreads it to your unvaccinated baby. Your baby dies.

Now will you care?

It's not selfish to allow people to decide for themselves. You want mandatory government vaccinations?

Yes it's selfish to let people put other people's babies at risk of death.

Yes I want mandatory government vaccinations.

It was that way when I was growing up. It was taken out of the hands of the parents and put in the hands of the public schools which is the government.

All children were lined up in either the gym or cafeteria and were vaccinated. With the only exceptions being those children who already had been vaccinated. The parents had no choice. However in those times no parent objected at all. Our parents were the ones who saw what happened to kids who weren't vaccinated or to kids when there weren't vaccinations available. In fact, my aunt had polio. So did my mother in law.

You don't care if your own child or grandchild is killed because someone else didn't get vaccinated? Wow.

I asked you Now do you care? Your reply was to say it's not selfish to let people decide for themselves. Then asked me if I wanted it mandatory.

You didn't say you cared. In fact you kept defending the let everyone decide for themselves attitude.

So I had to believe from your reply that you didn't care if your child or grandchild was killed because someone else didn't get vaccinated.

It's funny. I was wondering the same thing about you. What is wrong with a person who doesn't see that babies aren't old enough to be vaccinated and they will die if they're exposed to a disease like the measles and advocate that it's a choice to vaccinate instead of an obligation? How selfish does a person have to be to not care about anyone else's child or even their own child?

So then you care if it's your child or grandchild but do you care if the child isn't related to you? Is it ok for someone else's baby to die because someone else didn't get vaccinated?

Or are you still going to advocate the let the parent decide attitude?

We would not even be talking about this if obozo had not opened our southern border and allowed thousands of illegal kids to come into this country carrying numerous diseases. Then you silly assholes insisted that they be brought into our schools with no health checks, vaccinations, or even checking to see if they were running a temp.

This is all on you libs, you are your false prophet obozo the great kenyan messiah.

Damn, but you libs are stupid.
The kids you refer to come from countries that have a higher vaccine compliance rate than we do and they were revaccinated before being released.

Rand Paul Vaccines can lead to mental disorders - Washington Times

REALLY?

You are Doctor and you make stupid statements like this. You want to be President and you make statements that cannot be supported by science, or anything else? DUDE! You are are clueless as your father.

He's taking Michelle Bachmann's word for it ...

President Obama is in favor of vaccinating kids so of course, the Republicans are against it.

Actually, he is taking the word of a flaming liberal.

Robert Kennedy s Dangerous Anti-Vaccine Activism - Forbes

"Robert Kennedy is obsessed with the notion that vaccines cause autism. He’s particularly obsessed with the discredited idea that thimerosal, a preservative used in some vaccines, causes autism. Now Kennedy is about to publish a new book on this topic, and he’s promoting it both in the press and, as described in today’s Washington Post, in the halls of Congress. He’s recently had personal meetings with U.S. Senators Barbara Mikulski and Bernie Sanders to try to convince them to take action based on his claims. Why is it that a scientifically unqualified anti-vaccine advocate can get a private audience with a U.S. Senator? Because he’s famous, that’s why."

Do we really want a healthcare system in this country where Rand Paul can come between a patient and his doctor?

It would be much better if the decision was left up to a government bureaucrat who was in the Union and got his position due to seniority. That would be what we would get with single-payer don't you agree?

In rare cases vaccines have caused mental and physical disorders. Technically and medically, Rand is correct.

But vaccines save many more lives than they damage.

If we live in a truly free society, then the decision to vaccinate or not should rest with the parents, not the state. The state should educate about vaccines, by putting out facts, not propaganda.
But that was not what Randian Paul was alluding to. He was giving credence to the proven incorrect view that vaccinations lead to autism.

It is a free society, though perhaps people should not be allowed to go to Disneyland or movies or out in PUBLIC w/o having had vaccinations. Moreover, who'd vote for an idiot who expressed this view? Probably you would. LOL

what is it about facts that confuse you. What Rand said is accurate. He did not say that ALL kids who get vaccines will have problems, he said that some will, and that is a medical and statistical fact.

But on voting for idiots----------------------"what difference does it make" " ah aint no ways tarred" "it was caused by a video"
He didn't say there is an statistically insignificant chance an immunization would hurt someone. He gave credence to the wing nut crowd, and you're being disingenuous .. as usual.

from the OP, here is exactly what he said:

"
When asked by radio host Laura Ingraham Monday about his views on vaccination, Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky said that while he is not “anti-vaccine” at all, he does think they should be voluntary, later going on to say that vaccines can cause “mental disorders.”

Please note the words "can cause". He did not say "will cause" or "most cause". He said "can" cause.

Here is what he said:

"I've heard of many tragic cases of walking, talking, normal children who wound up with profound mental disorders after vaccines. I'm not arguing vaccines are a bad idea. I think they're a good thing. But I think the parents should have some input."

Where is his evidence?

"I've heard of many tragic cases................. That!

yep, you got it. all those kids, crossing the border, headed straight to disneyworld.

no, headed straight to public schools, infected the american kids, and then the american kids went to Disney.

right. it's me that sucks at thinking.

which do you think is more likely to happen, an outbreak of a disease where 100% of the people were immunized with a 90% effective vaccine or an outbreak where 90% of the people are immunized with the same vaccine?

Apparently you people also suck at math, your question is well stupid. Again this other clown foamed at the mouth that an un-vaccinated kid posed a risk to his vaccinated kid. That would only be true if the vaccine was not effective in his kid, in which case his kid poses the same risk to others as the un-vaccinated kid...right...libs its not rocket science.
true. a kid who has been vaccinated but does not develop the antibodies is as much at risk as someone that has not been vaccinated.

of course, an unvaccinated child has a 100% chance of not having an immunity, whereas the vaccinated child's risk is much, much smaller.

so who is knowlingly putting others at risk, the kid who didn't develop an immunity from vaccination, or the kid who wasn't vaccinated?

and the math in my question was clear and easy - in the first scenario 90% of the people would have immunity to a disease. in the second, only 81%. Which community would you rather live in?
Don't help him out. There are three questions he obviously hasn't even considered questioning, let alone answering. Why is a vaccination generally not given in the first year of life (in the US)? Why are two vaccinations generally required in the US, and does merely one vaccination convey an immunity?

the medical details are not the issue. The issue is why are we having outbreaks of diseases that we had declared eradicated in this country years ago? any idea why that is, libs?

Stop the deflection, Fuckwit. The issue is you put your children and others at risk with your stupid philosophy.

my kids were vaccinated. I support vaccinations. If some parents want to put their kids at risk, should the state override them? thats the question here, where do our freedoms begin and end and where do we become slaves to the state.

The question here is much bigger than vaccinations, its a question of freedom and state control of our lives. I do not want to live under a dictatorial govt, do you?

he said that vaccines have caused some negative affects on kids---------that is true.

I know that you hate and fear Rand Paul, but try telling the truth just once in a while.

At what point do you defend the right of the child to receive proper medical care over the objections of an ignorant parent?

Do the children really just belong to their parents like property or do they have rights - endowed by their creator - that extend beyond their parents?
