Report details how GOP lost young voters

I think the gop could reach younger voters with a message that govt should not reward sloth. But their econ message was hopelessly muddled when the party was unable to distinguish between a retiree and a welfare mom with six kids, and then further went on to nominate a corporate buzzard who plainly thinks he and his children contribute more to society than a migrant pouring cement or picking produce, and therefore it is only fair they pay less a % of income to tax.

The social and quasi-fundy christian issues are clear losers.
How can you pay less than 0%? Don't tell me migrants pouring cement and picking produce make enough to join the 53% who do pay taxes.

Maybe young voters have a problem with logic and mathematics.

Thank you for illuminating the gop's electoral problem.
So the GOP's problem is that the young are unable to understand things like there is no percentage smaller than O%?

I've often been suspect of US public education, but I didn't understand how bad it is. Thank you for the illustration.

no, the gop's problem is people such as yourself. I post the word "migrant" and you assume that means such a person is a "taker" paying no tax. That is why the gop cannot win a national election.

You posted the following: ...he and his children contribute more to society than a migrant pouring cement or picking produce, and therefore it is only fair they pay less a % of income to tax., which means you are terribly absent minded or a liar in addition to being a mental midget who thinks there is a percentage less than 0.

Really, are you that much of an airhead?!

Well, the GOP has lost all the young women, and they vote more than the young men, so that's that, turn out the lights, the party's over.

So the GOP runs presidential candidates that commit multiple sex crimes, that want to abolish abortion, that want to stop birth control like it's 1929 (!!!), senatorial candidates plural that think rape is pretty cool, and GOP legislators that fantasize forcing women to undergo sexual manipulation with special invasive intravaginal sonogram devices that they hope will torture them into not having abortions after all. Boy, I'll bet that really turns on those GOP state legislators.

All this is as sexually creepy as anything I've ever seen in politics in my entire life, and that even includes Bill Clinton. The GOP HATES women.

And then they are surprised they've lost young women voters?? Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh.

The GOP is a party of sexual abusers. No woman of any age should have anything to do with them, IMO. I was a lifelong Republican till 2006, but I had to give them up entirely. I'm waiting for Libertarians or someone sane to come along, until then I've decided democracy is just indecent. R-rated.

I can tell you first hand how we lost the younger voters. Crazy radical conservatives who just said the dumbest things on social issues. Also, our inability to empathize. We have a big problem with the youth vote and the funny thing is, it is so easily fixed. If I could just have one hour with Preibus..

All you Young Republicans are RINOs.

continue proving my point, and add a name it too. You are truly a Republican.

And you are a disingenuous airhead. Shit, another child left behind!

The Dem franchise is in such total shambles their only card is to try to make the GOP look unappealing. Obama and the Dems have given us the worst economy since FDR's Depression. We need clean, articulate Conservative candidates in '14 and '16 who will spell out exactly why our Neo-Socialist system is a total fail and why we can do better by embracing free market capitalism.

The American youth will find the concept of a better paying job massively appealing over the Dems "Food stamps in every pot and a non-working Green car in every garage"

I suppose the next several elections will be Dem. Like in the early part of the 20th century; the Dems had a hammerlock on Washington.

I give up. If the GOP can't figure out that it's not a good idea to alienate 55% of the electorate -- women -- what can one really say?

We seriously, seriously need a Libertarian second party, not this paean to authoritarianism that the GOP has become. All they can think about is controlling other people! Especially women.

We need a mind-your-own-damn-business party.

So the percentage of the youth vote is only those of registered republicans that voted during the primaries.
That is a long road to go down in the general election to get the youth vote to consider a GOP vote.

First, define significant. And what is the percentage of youth followers that Paul has out of the whole?

Yet, if that article is any indication, they don't take into account the one Republican with a significant youth following, Ron Paul.

Significant meaning that Ron Paul won the youth vote in most of the Republican primaries and caucuses in 2012, if not all of them. As for the overall percentage, couldn't tell you.

Because, Meathead, you are wrong. If we don't convince the youth to do much better, the GOP is finished.

Not really that difficult. Ron Paul had a solid youth following to begin with, and if he had won the nomination he would have been the peace candidate and undermined even more of Obama's youth support. He also did the strongest among independents against Obama in head to head match-ups.

I see no particular reason why Republicans should change their election stratagy. I applaud their perserverance. In spite of all evidence indicating that they should not, they continue to insist on alienating everyone except the polyester pants country club crowd and the hopelessly ignorant, uneducated redneck crowd. I say to my republican friends, "Whatever floats your boat!" I mean, with their current message, they have managed to get a African American Islamic, gay, commie, inexperienced, incompetant, lying, person elected president (not once, but twice!), who was not even born in the USA! Don't think that we in the democratic party are not grateful!

Among American youth, Ron Paul had a solid following among white, christian, heterosexual males.

Outside of that demographic, he was just a crazy old man
