The man was standing on the sidewalk in front of a restaurant with a gun and was threatening people. The crazy bastard claimed he could hear voices, and that the voices were taunting him. He was plainly unhinged.

yea and when people get shot for doing that, we then run to blame the police for over-reacting.

The man in Seattle even admitted to the police it was a good idea to take his shotgun from him. He knew he was a danger to others but couldn't stop himself.

If this is at all true, it's probably just a VERY insignificant bill - more of a symbolic gesture than any real gun control

The reason that the Repugs are doing this would be that by giving the Dems some symbolic victory now, the Dems will declare victory and not do any further gun control legislation if and when the Dems take back congress.

Besides it'll pacify some gun control supporters and get the whole gun control debate off the table before November's elections. That'll be good for the Repugs.

More likely it's some gun enthusiasts trying to get the base frothing at mouth.
