Republicans in Congress are worried the Supreme Court will hand them a major headache this month if it rules against the federal health insurance exchanges in more than 30 states, ending subsidies for millions of people.

While the Affordable Care Act remains broadly unpopular, two new polls show a majority of Americans don’t want to do away with its subsidies, a core component of the law.

The Supreme Court is expected to hand down its decision in King v. Burwell, which could strip 6.4 million people of health insurance subsidies, in late June.

The poll found that 44 percent of respondents favor the law, and that an additional 21 percent oppose it because it doesn't go far enough - for a total of 65 percent.

Democrats used reconciliation once. Republicans used it THREE times under Bush which is why we have trillions and trillions in debt. Democrats used it to save the lives of millions of Americans who didn't have health care. Republicans used it to redistribute the wealth of the nation to the top 5%. How many Republicans will get screwed over when they lose their health care? They may think it's a good thing now, but when they are personally affected, Republicans will need an inventive way to blame it on Democrats.

Once the democratic government is in charge of health care the power over it we once had over it as individuals now belongs to the democratic process. We still have the freedom to participate in it but power over it is now belongs to the democratic process. The individual is really powerless over it because they have no control over it other than starting a reform movement to make the changes they want. we know how fun those can be.

The gop's problem is that there are three options. It is likely in the House that the number of gop reps who will refuse any fix, beyond yet another ineffectual vote to repeal Obamacare, will make it impossible to pass a fix that creates a temporary patch to continue the subsidies unless Boehner brings it up for a vote needing dem support to pass, and he would possibly lose the speakership if he did that .... even while Obama, Reid and Pelsoi all say they'll support it, along with at least some goper Senators.

So, the gop can just let the subsidies die, and face the voters in swing states who lost coverage. Or, try and enact an actual replacement for the entire law ... in an election year, that will surely be vetoed. That would make HC one of the two or three biggest campaign issues for the WH, and one in which the gop in irretrievably split amongst those who feel the govt may not do anything (even though the tax credits to employer sponsored care we've had for decades have been doing something) and those who actually want to govern.
