Republicans taking Blame for Shutdown - Polls

If Obamacare is so bad, then why don't Republicans just say so and let it go, instead of continuing their futile and foolish efforts of trying to repeal it? Then, if it falls flat on its face, they can all campaign on having opposed it and predicting its failure. Sounds like a great election ploy to me.

On the other hand, maybe they want to repeal it because they are afraid it will turn out to be wildly popular, in which case they will be standing around with egg on their faces and poop in their pants, and an uphill battle for re-election.

Or maybe option C. The Democrats could compromise? Obama has already (illegally) delayed part of the bill and handed out a million waivers. Why not delay the individual mandate a year and give we the people a break?
Obama already gave individuals he cares about exemptions. Union members, dem funders, and everyone under 90k is exempted right? Everyone else is probably not gonna vote for this socialist crap care anyway.

This class warfare is the new America he promised. He's having the time of his life burning our country to the ground.

Typical Republican propaganda fed to the masses 24/7 via Fox and friends.

The way to avoid class warfare is plutocracy which guarantees that America's pseudo royalty, the 1 percent, have indisputable power over the 99 percent who produce, not just have, the wealth of the country. In other words abandon the democracy that we, the people have invested our blood, sweat, and tears into, over the last 150 years, and be dragged back to the founders plutocracy.

That is not going to happen. We need to rid Congress of conservatism to make sure that it doesn't.

Because socialism is good for the pieces of shit that sit on their asses their whole lives at the expense of the workers. Obama care is discounted insurance for democrats funded by republicans. I can see how that would win over all the scum bag crooks the democrats have been romancing.

Medicaid health care wasn't enough. Oh no now we have health care redistributions at the expense of health care money from middle class tax payers.

This is gonna be full on class warfare as these penalties and doubled prices hit.

Gonna make Greece look like a picnic.

A classic example of Fox bred Republican propaganda.

As Republicans need people to think, this assumes that there was something desirable about our old non system. I can't find it except in their propaganda. It was bad in every way. And getting worse as businesses decided that healthy workers were no longer desirable, they could be replaced like machine parts.

I've been harvesting my contributions to Medicare for quite a few years now, along with many friends, and I hear almost no complaints about it. It is a success.

The goal of ACA is holding everyone accountable for the cost of their own health care. Period.

The real aversion the GOP has to that reality is that it brings into the spotlight how many workers are not paid a living wage that would allow them to exist and stay healthy. I personally think that we should be shining the brightest possible light on bad businesses. Another accountability resisted by conservatives.

''Because socialism is good for the pieces of shit that sit on their asses their whole lives at the expense of the workers.''

There is no socialism in the ACA but that boogeyman keeps emerging from the conservative closet which is traditional and classic propaganda.

As far as ''pieces of shit that sit on their asses their whole lives at the expense of the workers'' are concerned, I agree that we need business leaders to return to classic liberal business management. Management focused on their one responsibility, growth, instead of laying people off and turning wealth producing worker output into wealth reducing executive bonus overhead.

There is no socialism in redistribution... ROFL you are a hoot.

If there is, the biggest offender is the Bushman, who redistributed more wealth than any other American President.

Or is redistribution up different than redistribution down?

What Fox Isn't Saying About The GOP "Conference" Plan To End Shutdown | Research | Media Matters for America

Fox News used a proposal to convene a Senate conference on budget issues to attack Senate Democrats, ignoring the fact that Republicans blocked the formation of such a conference earlier in the year.

Senate Republicans on Tuesday prevented Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) from setting up a budget conference.

Reid sought the Senate's unanimous consent to form a budget conference committee aimed at reconciling the wildly different House and Senate budget resolutions, but Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) objected.

Toomey said he was objecting on behalf of Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), the ranking member of the Senate Budget Committee who had a conflict and could not be present.

"It seems House Republicans don't want to be seen even discussing the possibility of compromise with the Democrats for fear of a Tea Party revolt," Reid said. [The Hill, 4/23/13]

Refusal of the government to break up monopolies, which is their job, is not the same as the government redistributing paychecks of the middle income earners to lower income earners.

Tax rates that grossly favor income from wealth compared to income from work have nothing to do with monopolies.

Tax rates on capital gains are flat. Flat taxes favor no one.

Income tax rates are extremely progressive, AMT for example screws over the upper middle class. Progressive tax systems favor the low income earner at the expense of high income earner.

For example, if you and I both do the same job and both earn 50 bucks an hour and you work 10hours a week while I work 80hours a week, I get punished for working more hours than you and the government will go to extreme measures to give you a big chunk of my income in compensation for you working less hours.

Let's go over that again.

I work creating wealth and make say $100k per year. You don't work at all. You turn the wealth that your family gave you over to a financial manager who makes you $100k per year betting on which stock prices, driven by my work output, escalate more rapidly. You pay half the taxes that I do. Your contribution to the American economy is zero.

Tell us again why that kind of wealth redistribution is good for the middle class who support the wealthy?

America should be thankful to Republicans, all they have done is shut down is parts of government, they have not shut down hospitals, schools, and many other things. Best not to get the Republicans too angry.
Thank you Republicans.

Tax rates on capital gains are flat.
Tax rates on capital gains need to be raised by 10%.

ok... Then why didn't the democrats do that while they held control of the house, senate, and the white house? I'm gonna guess you don't have capital assets.

Because Republicans held them hostage by promising to end unemployment benefits for the people that they, in fact, had unemployed under Bush, unless Democrats extended the Bush wealth redistribution tax cuts.

Thank you Republicans.

The have also done nothing to support health care, education, energy, environment, foreign relations, nothing important. All they've done is to shut down Congress.

If it wasn't standard operating procedure for Republicans, maybe the public would believe them

If you don't concede to our demands, we will shut down Government

Once Government is shut down, it is YOUR fault because you didn't concede to our demands

It takes two to tango, and it takes two sides to have a negotiating impass. Even dumbass liberal/socialists should know little things like that.

Since neither side would compromise, the government shut down. Now, the intelligent question is which side had the more reasonable position, not who can we place the blame on.

Do you believe that congress and the administration should be exempt from Obamacare? I don't.

Do you believe that there should be a medical device tax that jacks up the price of all medical devices? I don't.

Do you believe that Obamacare is ready for prime time? I don't. The bureaucracy hasn't even written all the regulations yet, and they have had three years to do so.

I thought this was a very well put together analogy of the situation Republicans are in.

Obsessive-disruptive disorder. Imagine that your company made a big policy change three years ago that you really hated. Now imagine that, instead of getting with the program and joining the team, you spent the past three years complaining about the new policy, seeking ways to obstruct it, and telling everybody you bumped into that the new policy was certain to doom the company. And you did all this while refusing to do whatever work the company hired you to do in the first place. By now, you’d either be the CEO, having deposed prior management in a dramatic boardroom coup, or you’d be out of a job and unemployable, since nobody wants to hire somebody with a reputation as a megalomaniacal troublemaker.
House Republicans are the megalomaniacal troublemakers of the U.S. Congress, clinging to the notion that they'll be able to gut President Obama’s signature health reform law, the Affordable Care Act, if they just concentrate hard enough on that and nothing else. The law has been in place since 2010, and the Supreme Court validated it in 2012. Yet there seems to be no statute of limitations on legislative tantrums thrown in protest.

>>> Your contribution to the American economy is zero.
That would depend on where my money went. For example, if my money (about a million dollars assuming 10% return) went to buy stocks your company sold, my money went to your paycheck. Without my money you would have been out of work and earned nothing.

Additionally, if you are truly earning six figures you should also have a nice nest egg that is earning money for you. Thus, you should be the evil sob that has 100k payroll income and 100k capital gains income. Thus, you should be the poor sob that has to pay both income taxes the first time you earn your money and then capital gains taxes (double taxation) on interest you earn with the already taxed money.

FYI that evil middle man pays income tax on the money he earns buying and selling YOUR savings.

PS: Those assets you inherited, are yours not the government's. I know this is a hard concept for democrats but you don't own people or their assets.

Tell us again why giving you our assets is good for us?

Republicans have not provided a single, specific, objective, rational reason to delay ACA. Not one. Neither have you. Their, and your, demands have been treated with exactly as much respect as they deserve.

What is to negotiate....what is to compromise?

What have Republicans offered other than to release their Government Hostage?
