'Revenge porn' should be a crime

The peace of mind comes from taking action, talking about it and helping bring awareness and hopefully changing laws to protect people in the future. Scumbags usually don't like it when you shine the light on them,cuz...they usually don't want the whole world to know what "scumbags" they really are. Go figure. The lesson learned should be don't be a morally corrupt scumbag. Not... keep quiet and move on if you are a victim of scumbaggery.

Laws won't stop the pics from being posted...personal responsibility plays the most important role.

What makes you think she doesn't take responsibility for her actions? Just because she wants the scumbag to be responsible for his?

I doubt she will do it again either.

Personal responsibility in realizing that trusting people with anything is a risk, but especially porn. Anyone who is foolish enough to not consider the possibilities of how it could go wrong at some point in the future, is beyond naive.

There should be no porn on the internet that the participating "performers" do not agree to in writing (in a legal contract). Any violations should be considered a criminal act.

Obviously ignorance is a prerequisite for being a conservative, as this makes no sense.

Some sort of ‘performance contract’ concerns civil law, not criminal law, where anyone violating a such a contract can’t be subject to criminal prosecution.

Moreover, pornography is subject to First Amendment freedom of expression protections, any law criminalizing performing in a pornographic venue would be un-Constitutional, whether there’s a ‘contract’ or not.

Being naive does not = not taking personal responsibility for your actions. She obviously knew it could go wrong and admitted she did it anyway because she trusted the man.

You're so full of shit. Posting nude pictures of someone without their written permission should be a crime. Even an idiot like YOU should understand that logic.

Celebrities are protected from these types of image violations. The average person should be also.

Which concerns defamation, libel, and slander law, having nothing to do with this case.

Defamation, libel, or slander occurs when unauthorized images or statements are attributed to someone which are damaging and false.

In this case the woman posed for the photos, which she willingly provided to the ex-boyfriend to use however he saw fit.

And defamation, libel, and slander address civil, not criminal, law.

I didn't equate the two...I said it's "beyond naive". So she learned a hard lesson in life...people can fuck you over. Anyway, I've been speaking more in generalities than this particular case, but whatever.

Defamation - Any intentional false communication, either written or spoken, that harms a person's reputation; decreases the respect, regard, or confidence in which a person is held; or induces disparaging, hostile, or disagreeable opinions or feelings against a person.

Posting pornographic images online of a person without consent and with their contact information included sends a false image/impression of the person. And it can harm a person's reputation, regard and induce hostile opinions and feelings against the person. Going by the definition above. All of that can/and did transpire in a situation such as this and should be against the law.

Defamation may be a criminal or civil charge. It encompasses both written statements, known as libel, and spoken statements, called slander.

The probability that a plaintiff will recover damages in a defamation suit depends largely on whether the plaintiff is a public or private figure in the eyes of the law.

I'd have to see the porn.

is it a sex act? then yea

is it her acting naughty? suck it up and grow up.

aside from that, its his word against hers.

I need to take back my post. In my defense I was tired.
-----------------------------------------

She did not enter into a legal contract, therefore she has no say over his right of free speech.

so let this be a lesson, don't do a gad damn thing with anyone that you wouldn't want your mom and dad to know about.

It's more of a case of her trust being broken.

Thats why you shouldn't have nudes. Don't do it if you can't accept the consequences.

More like she misplaced her trust. If two adults want to take pictures of any nature with each other their bond and decisions made within the the relationship will determine that parameters. Clearly both parties in this instance made poor choices. Unless there was no express limitation on the use of the pictures, the photographer owns the copyright of the pictures can do anything with them. Creepy on the guy's part, stupid on the woman's part.

A person does not have unfettered rights to free speech. Speech that creates a dangerous situation is not protected. You are also not protected from committing Libel and Slander.

Was the statement false, or put in a context that makes true statements misleading? You do not have a constitutional right to tell lies that damage or defame the reputation of a person or organization.

Education for Freedom Lesson 4

This should be a no brainer. You don't let anyone take pictures of you that you wouldn't want your mother to see. Don't have a facebook account. If a boyfriend wants to see you naked, invite him over and he brings dinner. Give him a world class strip show after you have taken his phone camera away. How stupid women have become over the years. Just really really stupid.

Both men and women do stupid crap in the name of love. It is not an affliction of one sex over the other. You don't think men send women nekkid photos of themselves?

I had a 70 year old man send me photos of his junk! After a 10 minute conversation about feeding my cat while I was out of town. Hardly "love". It is an absence of sense. A hanging up of knowing what's best. Women seldom demand naked pictures of men as a requirement to keep the relationship going. Men do. Men are trophy collectors. Technology has enabled them to move on from a notch on the bedpost. Women are mired in proving how much they love their man by performing all kinds of stupid and silly acts and they've been doing it forever. Women are now FREE and EQUAL. This is the price they pay for being manipulated into being their own worst enemies.

:eusa_hand:

Then perhaps we should punish all men for being trustworthy?

Beasts.

10 minute conversation about pussy feeding....might have set him off....

So, tell us more.

pics?

I was then commuting between Nevada and California. I needed someone to feed my cat in the week I was in California. He had a dying wife and was home all the time as her caregiver so he said he would come and feed the cat. We exchanged phone numbers. By the time I got back to my apartment, he had sent me a photo of his shriveled up 70 year old dick and sagging balls. I sent him a text saying that I understood his problem completely and if he got an elevated toilet seat, his balls would not fall in the toilet when he took a dump. I did not send him nude pictures of myself. I sent him a video.

Were you afraid the sagging balls would upset the cat?

I can totally believe the highlighted portion.

(CNN) -- "Jane" allowed her ex-boyfriend to take her naked photograph because, he assured her, it would be for his eyes only. After their breakup, the man betrayed her trust.

On the revenge porn site UGotPosted, he uploaded her naked photo and contact information. Jane received calls, e-mails, and Facebook friend requests from hundreds of strangers, many of whom wanted sex.
After the site refused to take down the post and the anonymous calls and e-mails intensified, she turned to law enforcement. According to the officers, nothing could be done because her ex had not engaged in a harassing "course of conduct," as required by criminal harassment law, and because he had not explicitly solicited others to stalk her.

Criminal law should have a role in deterring and punishing revenge porn. It's not new that certain types of privacy invasions are crimes. Many states prohibit the nonconsensual taking of sexually explicit images -- the disclosure of someone's naked images should be criminalized as well.

But in all but one state, New Jersey, turning people into objects of pornography without their permission is legal. A single post, however, can go viral and ruin someone's life.

Revenge porn and its ilk raise the risk of offline stalking and physical attack. Fear can be profound. Victims don't feel safe leaving their homes. Jane, who is a nurse, did not go to work for days. As many victims have told me, they struggle especially with anxiety, and some suffer panic attacks. Revenge porn victims withdraw from online engagement, shutting down their social media profiles and blogs to prevent strangers from finding them online. They cannot participate fully in our networked age.

Opinion: Make 'revenge porn' a crime - CNN.com

Absolutely agree.

Women should not be rewarded for being stupid. They should ALWAYS have guarded themselves to prevent strangers from finding them on line!

The way to stop the posting of nude pictures is to stop taking nude pictures. Are people seriously this idiotic? Are women? "Stop me before I make a fool of myself".

The very second someone says I want to take naked pictures of you, or send me a nudie selfie, the bell should ring loud. Expect that that photo is going to be used against you and you will be defriended on facebook.

If women started acting like adults, maybe they would be able to pass some adult wisdom on to young girls and the whole practice of public nude pictures will go away.

He had some pretty sharp claws and loved to bat hanging balls around. It made him a big hit at the Christmas Tree every year.
