8 years of Obama violating both Constitution and Law, Democrats running a proven felon as their 2016 Presidential candidate, Re-writng history, wiping legitimate crimes off the books, letting felons vote, standing with Illegals over Americans to shut down the govt.....

The Democratic Party is officially the Anti-Constitution / Anti-Rule of Law Party.....

San Francisco DA to erase marijuana convictions going back decades

'The district attorney there, a man named George Gascon, has decided he is going to apply California’s marijuana legalization law retroactively. That means thousands of misdemeanor and felony marijuana convictions going back for decades will be erased or reduced.'

As long as they only limit it to simple possession and selling, and not any other crimes I don't have an issue with it.

They start letting violent crimes go, then hell no.

Will the crimes committed by drug addicts while under the influence be erased too?

In liberal utopia aka Seattle and the liberal I5 corridor property crimes are off the charts as drug addicts steal anything that's not nailed down to support their habit. They will cut through your security fence, steal your property AND the fencing.

eventually there wont be any criminal records in san fran,,,unless u voted for Bush or Trump

A very bold wise move. Release all Citizens who've been thrown in cages over Marijuana convictions. They don't belong in cages with brutal murderers and rapists. It's time to evolve as a nation. Decriminalize Marijuana and release all who've been convicted on such charges. Big props to this brave man.

Good for him. Quit wasting taxpayer money on a failed war on drugs.

If a person has not committed a violent crime along with possession then the felony will be expunged.

lol.... dope smokers don't commit crimes to feed their addiction- in fact, they are more inclined to feed their munchie craving, watch a comedy & get the giggles.

Your delusions are noted. Maybe if you were to read the inscription on the statue of liberty you might see life a bit clearer.

you find those that are addicted to heroin cause they can't get their oxy or vicodin stealing copper & shit like that. & meth heads too......... shit like that comes straight from the heartland.

agreed. if this is just minor possession and the like, who cares anymore? we need to focus on real crimes and criminals anyway.

No one merely smoking some Ganja should be arrested and thrown in a cage with brutal murderers and rapists. That's just so barbaric. It's also incredibly costly to Taxpayers. Just decriminalize Marijuana and release all who've been convicted on such charges. That would be the morally just and logical thing to do at this point.

One thing that some prosecutors are worried about is if the possession was a plea down from something worse.

Say a guy stole something and had pot on him when he got arrested. They plead him down to possession, maybe as a 1st time offender.

I would assume they have records of this, and can maybe just change the plea again, give the guy timed served, and be done with it.

Decriminalization cuts down on the risk of the manufacture and sale of a substance. As the risk comes down, more people grow willing to get involved, supply ramps up, and price comes down. As price comes down, addicts are able to afford their substance more easily, and crimes committed in order to access said substance grow less frequent.

Notice how alcohol isn't so cost prohibitive that people are robbing each other outside of bars to get their fix? Why do you suppose that its availability hasn't caused crime to skyrocket?
