Sequestration: Blame goes to GOP

Riiiiiiiiiight..................you conservative idiots are saying that budget cuts are the way to go, and you bitch all the time that Obama is going to take us down the same road Europe is going.

Well..................might wanna check the news sometime. Europe is going into a recession because of their austerity measures (in 2012 their economy went down by 0.5 percent), while here in the US we haven't done any of those measures, and have actually tried to grow the economy, and our growth last year in 2012 was 2 percent.

Try again...................austerity won't work.

This country needs to take care of itself and not worry about what is happening in europe. We need to cut taxes and stop spending money to keep people mooching off hard working conservatives with welfare and social security and all of the other government giveaways that keep these lazy people living like kings. It would save the country most of are budget. You liberals are to stupid to see this no matter how many times we tell you.

Unfortunately, because the economy has been globalized, yeah........we DO need to see what other countries are doing and what does and doesn't work.

Austerity doesn't work. Europe and Greece have proven this.

Besides...............if you give a tax cut to a rich person, every dollar spent for the tax cut generates only 1.03 in the economy.

If you give a tax cut to a middle class or poor person? Every dollar spent on them generates 1.63.

Giving money to those less fortunate works, because a rising tide lifts ALL boats. If you give a poor person money in the form of tax cuts, they will spend most of it to buy things they need, thus stimulating the economy. If you give that same tax cut to a rich person, they will only stick it in the bank and sit on it, doing nothing for the economy.

And yeah..................."trickle down economics" doesn't work. That is a myth.

Want proof? Look at the water wars between ranchers and farmers. Trickle down is a bad way to go.

Rich people use tax cuts to create jobs. Poor people just steal from working people with welfare and social security. If Obama had made more tax cuts for the rich instead of raising them so much we would not be in a recession any more. That has been proven again and agian.

Actually, last I checked, the DOW was up, the housing market is stablizing, and the economy is getting better. Matter of fact, if you'd invested in the stock market when Obama took office, you'd be a lot richer today.

Again, try using facts instead of GOP talking points.

If liberals could think they would see that Obama raising taxes every chance he gets is why the country got in trouble in the first place. Lets go back to the way things were while President bush was in office and everything will be much better.

Hard working CON$ervoFascist is an oxymoron! CON$ are too lazy to even think for themselves.

All I can say is that I hope the American people never forget that the GOP entirely sponsored this bill and that the Democratic POTUS signed it into law.

Who ya gonna call?

Wow you are all falling for this particular bit of political theater aren't you?

Do you realize how miniscule the "spending cuts" are going to be?

We gave the rich people tax cuts and the job situation didn't improve. Welfare and Social security were made as investments for the future of everyone, which they are entitled to.

It turns out tax cuts only made the recession worse. The rich had their chance. Now we do this our way.

If the sequester goes through, the GOP is gonna see an even worse ass kicking in 2014, because people aren't going to forget that it was the GOP that started all this crap in the first place.

Actually it comes from Obama refusing to deal with any serious reforms or cuts on entitlements, which DO account for a greater portion to the government budget than defense spending (which the Pentagon has already had to work around budget cuts, and restructure with what it can afford). Obama will always put party and its base before tackling any serious spending cuts to reduce the 6 Trillion additional debt that was accrued under his administration. How many excuses DOES Obama have to avoid reductions in government spending? Is all this Drama he is cooking up worth seeing a greater increase to the size of our debt?

You are referring to the "tax holiday" that took contributions right out of social security, are you not?

Sequestration and Cognitive Dissonance on the Right

"It's Obama's sequester" = don't blame for the terrible results

"It's only a small percentage of the federal budget" = it isn't really all that bad

At first I gave them the benefit of the doubt, maybe one message for their looney base, and another for the rest of the world. But like the President used to do, I'm overestimating their ability be honest and open in dealings with him. Now it's about their ability to bounce back after the arse-whooping they took in 2012.

It basically makes absolutely no sense..unless you are a conservative.

They, what, hate the sequester? :cuckoo:

Naw.

"Entitlements" aren't greater than defense spending..well the "defense spending" we know about.

Especially when you factor the "entitlements" of the troops BACK into defense spending.

It did improve for rich folks.

Who basically did exactly the opposite of what conservative soothsayers said they would.

They took that cash and horded it.

No I am referring to the Bush tax cuts that everyone got.

Then the GOP should be happy to let them go through...

totally bask in the credit when people can't get their services.

Oh, I don't think that's going to work out too well for them. Didn't work for them in 1995, won't work now.

Actually the "tax holiday" doesn't work if families are seeing their household incomes drop. They are going to use that money to either pay off their own debt, or sit on it because they don't trust the economic job outlook. Your trickle up theory that Americans will simply spend all that extra money, just doesn't hold true.

..... the BLS' latest jobs report confirmed that our concerns have been valid all along: as of May, part-time jobs just as disclosed by the Bureau of Labor Statistics hit an all time high, over 28 million! These are people who traditionally have zero job benefits, including healthcare and retirement, and which according to the BLS "work less than 35 hours per week." In other words, as little as one hour per week of "work" is enough to classify one a part-time worker. More disturbing: the increase in part-time jobs in May compared to April: 618,000, or the fifth highest on record. It gets better: when added with the 508,000 increase in part-time jobs in April, this is the largest two month increase in part time-jobs in history. Which means of course that full time jobs in May must have declined: sure enough, at a -266,000 drop in full time jobs, the quality composition of the NFP report was just abysmal and makes any reported "increase" in those employed into a sad farce.

The income of the typical American household fell last year for the fourth consecutive year, the longest sustained period of decline since the early 1980s. Americans are now poorer than they were in 1999 after taking into account how inflation erodes the value of the dollar. (because The Obama administration and the treasury feel it's a "good idea" to keep printing up more dollar bills.)

Median household income fell after adjusting for inflation to $50,100 in 2011, down 1.5% from a year earlier.

Survey, compiled by Sentier Research, show that the typical American household’s real (inflation-adjusted) income has actually dropped 5.7 percent during the Obama “recovery.” Using constant 2012 dollars (to adjust for inflation), the median annual income of American households was $53,718 as of June 2009, the last month of the recession. Now, after 38 months of this “recovery,” it has fallen to $50,678 — a drop of $3,040 per household.

Yet it gets worse. Amazingly, incomes have dropped even more during the “recovery” than they did during the recession. In fact, they’ve dropped more than twice as much as they did during the recession. From the start to the end of the recession, the real median income of American households fell $1,413, or 2.6 percent. From the end of the recession to the present day, it has dropped $3,040, or 5.7 percent.

Two of the groups hit hardest have been ones that turned out in abundance for Obama in 2008: black Americans and younger Americans (those between the ages of 25 and 34). During the first three years of the Obama “recovery,” the real median household income for black Americans dropped a whopping 11.1 percent. For Americans between the ages of 25 and 34 — the group most apt, as Paul Ryan put it, to be “staring up at fading Obama posters” and looking to “get going with life” — real median household income dropped 8.9 percent.
Moreover, we’re still not headed in the right direction. Last month, American households’ real median annual income fell by another $543 — from $51,221 to $50,678. Sentier’s Gordon Green, former chief of the Governments Division at the Census Bureau, says, “This latest decline in real median annual household income is indicative of a struggling economy.” He adds that, while we are “technically” in a recovery, “real median annual household income is having a difficult time maintaining its present level, much less ‘recovering.’”
Similarly, the percentage of Americans who are employed has dropped during the Obama “recovery” — from 59.4 percent during the final month of the recession to just 58.3 percent last month. That’s according to the Obama administration’s own figures.
