BEREA, Ohio -- A popular performing arts building is advertising a kid`s birthday party where participants can play "Shoot the President" with Nerf guns and it’s raising more than a few eyebrows in Northeast Ohio.

The game was being advertised at Olmsted Performing Arts building in Berea.

A description of the party listed on the website states, “There is one president with body guards. Everyone else tries to eliminate or shoot the president.”

“I think it’s unfortunate that they chose that kind of theme only because of the atmosphere we are living in now,” said Julie Berghaus, of Cleveland.

“I wouldn’t say it was anything political or a statement about politics. I think the game was made up just for kid fun,” said Samuel Fravel, a former OPA student.

Only one question here: How many of you on the left would say this would be contained locally if the event were held during DumBama's term and not Trump? Racism, bigotry, promoting hate? Not when it takes place during a Republican presidency. Think this will make it to national news? Let's give it a few days (or weeks) and find out.

So. If the game were aimed at adults and not kids, could it be counted as assassin training?

Adults are less likely to be indoctrinated than children. But I think any game where the object is to kill the President is promoting the action thereof. And like I said, this story will die in our own city. I'm sure that would not be the case if DumBama was still President. It would be national news and the suburb would be placed under heavy scrutiny, even death threats.

Yeah, that's probably not such a great idea.

Poor taste too but that's kinda the way of the world at the moment.

Thank you for your honesty, but I was pointing out the double standards of the media at the same time. On a national level, it's only tolerated because Trump is currently the President. For all we know, things like this are going on locally all over the country and not reported.

Folks were burning President Obama in effigy and such so I don't think you get to pin it on one party.

Well no, but that was Barrack Obama specifically, and not "the president". Also they weren't children using Nerf guns.

Come to think about it the effigy burning was much worse.

Now that is rather funny.

It is sad but you are right about the coverage though - no one is going to decry this in any real way but it would have been a travesty by racists if Obama was the target.

I think it's just plain wrong no matter who the President is. It's not a message we should be sending to our youngsters.

G500 started a topic of a personal experience where his child was suspended from school and required to see a shrink because his kid make a gun figure with his hand and went "bang-bang." The liberals who chimed in said it was necessary because of past school shootings.

Now we are teaching our children to shoot a President, and it's okay because it's all meant in good fun? It's just a game?

It is wrong. And in a free society you are perfectly within your rights to be wrong. Even despicable.

This is what the left does not get and why G is going through what he is. I am glad he has the balls to stand up though - for every G that stands up there are a thousand normal people that simply take it because that is far simpler.

You kids always amaze me. I know you read my posts, you responded to them relatively intelligently.

What happened?

You know this actually is very complicated.
While I am very leftest, I don't think Trump is being treated at all fairly.
But then again, almost all our presidents are less than honest.
They all lied, killed innocent people, etc.
So then actually the idea of practicing getting ready for armed rebellion is not really that bad of an idea.
It is going to have to happen eventually, regardless of how long we put it off.
And its not partisan.
Clinton signed the federal crime bill of 1994, and that alone was valid reason for armed rebellion.
The federal government is not authorized to conduct a War on Drugs like that,
The repeal of Glass-Steagall also was pretty much criminal.
So while forever hopeful that things will get better, the reality it they likely will get worse instead, and think of those half million innocent Iraqis who would still be alive if we had rebelled before Bush murdered them?
So this is not such a simple call.
Do we want to enforce an artificial respect for presidents who do not really deserve it, or not?

As an aside, actually it is NEVER good for media to cover any thing like this.
All it does is give people more copycat ideas.
If you really think something is bad or wrong, you go to their landlord, bank, or other way of intimidating them, but you never want to go to the press.
That will only greatly increase it and make it worse.

Look at school shootings.
The motivation and opportunity has never changed.
But from the original Harrison and Kleblolt, it is increase geometrically over the years, as copycats are given the idea more and more from the media.

Well, nobody has tried to cutoff Trump's head or burn him in effigy, so I think he's okay there. If you're talking about inspiring other entertainment centers doing the same thing, perhaps. But I know this suburb very well. In fact I'd love to live there myself; I've been saying that for many years. It's has a small town feel even though in the city. It's middle-class to upper-middle-class. Houses range in size and age.

I think the people there would like to know about things going on like this. I don't know for sure, but it strikes me as a more conservative group of people who live there that would not appreciate something like this going on in their backyard.

Here is a picture of their downtown that pretty much reflects the rest of the town.
