It's complex. We do have that protective streak toward females (of any age), that's true. But most of what I've read here seems to stem from the imagined (sexual) consequences of superficial appearance, which again points to fear of that power, whether in oneself or some stranger.

That's why I posed the question "what makes these guys think pedos are fixated on the same superficial appearances?" If that were all it took there would be a whole lot more pedophiling going on. I think it's more complex than that.

Because pedophilia is a mental illness. What they find "sexy" is not what is a turn on for a normal guy. I remember hearing a case about a guy who actually claimed that a 4-year-old child was "coming onto him" because she wanted to sit in his lap and play and stuff, like a normal child. They are sick, sick people and what they find attractive is very unpredictable.

Because it shows sex acts maybe? They probably do like to look at kids but it's not because the kid is wearing makeup and has an adult look, I think we know that. Gosh, even babies have been molested and infants.

It isn't that simple. Adults look for attractive partners because it portends good genes to their potential offspring.

A pedo isn't out to choose a "mate".

I don't think it's so much a case of what the other party thinks. Rather the notoriously fragile male ego tends to think himself the center of the universe and therefore all he sees is for the benefit of Numero Uno. Therefore this woman here and that woman there are for me to go capture and use as desired. What the other party wants is kind of not-thought-about.

Within that framework, and given the psychological dysfunction that normally filters into protection of the young, it's not a big step from "that woman there" to "that child there".

Anyways, I don't know these people (the mom and her daughter), so I can't say what this mom's intentions are with her young daughter. Is it appropriate to play dress up with your child and take photos? I don't see anything wrong with doing that. Posting them on a site where anyone can have access to them? I guess some people just don't see anything wrong with doing that. I'm certainly not going to say that this woman is a terrible mom for doing something like this though. If someone else looks at pictures of children in a perverted manner, that's on them as far as I'm concerned.

Some of them are deluded enough to think that the child desires their sexual attention. They talk themselves into believing that the child wants some kind of relationship with them. They are sick, dangerous and very unpredictable. That is why I say, you never know what could set one of these sickos off. It could be the exact opposite of something YOU personally find sexy.

Well, not really because that is one of the reasons being given as to why some people object to the pictures being posted on the internet, that these pictures are readily available to internet predators and therefore the mom is potentially putting her child in danger or trying to intentionally "sexualize" the child for men.
