if that were the case, they would have never broken off of their states that they were already members of to form DC in the first place. If they want to be treated like a state, GREAt!!, return to the states from which they came.Maryland isn't breaking apart and there is also no reason for them to be forced to take a portion of D.C. back. Or for that matter force D.C. residents into a state that is not their own. Simply put the citizens most impacted are least likely to be in favor of retrocession. It appears to mainly be 'states rights' Republican's who want to force states to change their boundaries. Ironic.
of course the residents of D.C. deserve statehood and be represented in Congress as equally as any other citizen should have.
