Should voting be an ever-changing obstacle course?

Should voting be an ever-changing obstacle course?

I have yet to be shown how anyone was prevented from voting.
Tens of thousands have been removed "in error" from voter rolls and only found ot on election day

More importantly , is the DIFFICULTY of voting. The harder it is to vote, the easier it is to win election with fewer but more committed voters...and Republicans ARE committed. They are driven by fear and have been for decades and fear is a powerful motivator.

Make no mistake...this culture wars thing is all about fear...as is pretty much everything Republicans talk about
It isn't hard to vote

I don't think anyone on welfare should be allowed to vote.

I also like the Starship Trooper model - "Service Guarantees Citizenship".

However, the best model is what our Founding Fathers had. Only White Men.
How Un-american of you.

It is unAmerican to embrace the voting model that our Founding Fathers adopted??? LOL!
Our founding fathers were progressive. They would have embraced the societal evolution, not resisted it.

Yes, it can be. Particularly if they strike your name from the rolls.

You DO realize that they lived in a racist slave state economy that we have moved on from right? I know...you have not moved on but yea...the nation HAS.

So what? They had a good voter ID system to keep the filthy ass welfare queens from using the government for thievery. You had to be a land owing White male. Damn good model. if we had that now this country wouldn't be so fucked up.

Is it really that hard to check to see if you are a registered voter?
One call to the town hall is all it takes and if you're not listed all you have to do download and mail in a form.

Yeah really difficult.

Have you tried to call the offices of a major metropolitan area?

Jesus. One can see this Citizen really hates big government and loves freedom.

Doubleplus good, Citizen.
The freedom to swindle and manipulate elections to illegally gain illegitimate power?
No thank you. We already have enough of that.

Shouldn't voting be easy and painless for all eligible American voters? I feel sorry for many voters who continue to face an ever-changing obstacle course just to cast their ballots. Republicans don't want to even have a debate on voting rights. What do you think?

That's an interesting question. The reason gerrymandering is generally constitutional/legal is Art 1 Sec 2.

The supreme court held that redistricting can be challanged, but never agreed upon a test to determine if a plan violated the equal protection clause. So, maybe all a state has to do is draw districts with approximately the same no of people. Here in Miss, that means the legislature noticed the biggest concentrations of blacks were along the Miss River, in the "delta." So they made a long, but narrow, district just for them. And we get the rest of the state and the other 3 representatives. Who are republican.

And each state is pretty much free to run elections as they choose, so long as they follow due process and equal protection, The feds can pass laws for federal elections.

But the Framers did not necessarily think we'd splinter into pol parties. Washington was 'bigly' against it. And of course, they couldn't anticipate slaves actually voting.

Anyone who is too stupid to follow the rules has no right to vote in the first place. Furthermore there is no right to vote as voting is a privilege

Duh, it depends on who makes the rules and who they're designed to keep from voting.

If you follow the rules how does it keep you from voting?

.
Again because the retards luting Walmart are very rule challenged
Y do U h8 lutes?
Ebonics is not my strong point
I beg to differ!
Beg all you want, no one is listening

It isn't hard to vote
It is hard to vote when the looters need to stop looting

Yes, it can be. Particularly if they strike your name from the rolls.
Or when you have to wait 5 hours in line because Republicans don't allow enough polling places or enough days to spread out the volume of voters
So what? They had a good voter ID system to keep the filthy ass welfare queens from using the government for thievery.
Ding Ding Ding.

I never waited more than 3 minutes to vote. Perhaps you are just clueless

While I tend to agree with the sentiment, the word is "looting". Dictionaries can be great things.

Just get a fucking ID and go IN PERSON to the polling place! What's so tough about that?
I can't get off work.

I can't get a ride and the closest polling place is ten miles away.

How do you get to work?

.
I'm retired.
Or I'm close enough to walk.
Or my friend works the same place and gives me a ride.

So all you have is bullshit. GOT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

.
God damn you're stupid. Can you not see I'm pointing out the issues and not talking about myself specifically?

Yet you chose to use first person terminology. Go fucking figure.

Clueless you are my friend. Many heavily Dem districts in GOP states have as much as five hour waits and Repub states are changing regs all over the place to make more of that happen

It's really easy to check your registration status online prior to an election. It's not like it's double super secret information.
