Student Debt Forgiveness knocked down

I doubt anyone will declare BK just because of student loans......there are far better things to declare BK for...like healthcare

Plus government assistance for debt forgiveness is not for regular people anyway....that ain't how capitalism works
Paying for others student loans after they signed the documents isn't how Capitalism works either. So there's that

Yes, but its funny how socialism for the rich is always defended by right-wingers tho....the minute one of the "regular folks "(especially if they are darkies) benefits from that same government......now, its Communism....

But hey, we gotta keep that white male hierarchy firmly in place one way or another.....which is why this week is such a good week for the "let's go back to the good old days" folks...

It was a political play for support by Biden of course, and nothing else.

But it would have been quite effective!

However, the right biased Scotus has still made it effective in that the political right gets to be responsible for killing it.

Such is the dysfunctional American system!

It was effective in helping Biden win votes from stupid people. Millions of idiots fell for Biden's lie, even though we intelligent people told them at the time it was pure bullshit.

Student loans aren't dischargeable via bankruptcy. Didn't they tell you that at the Russian troll farm?

I remember a time not too long ago that the mantra was having equal rights for all.
Now that we have it, it's not wanted. WTH happened?
Cherry pick which equal rights are wanted?
Equal rights IS equal rights....it does not mean equal outcome.
It's like the 100 meter dash, everyone starts out at the same line, but they usually don't finish the same
I'm confused.

You couldn't be more right, it was Aug or somewhere around then he made an issue of it.
Even after he said that he didn't have the power to do it. It was a bargaining chip that the youth
fell for. Good lesson for them to remember about politicians in future years.

How will it help Republicans?
The college student/ graduate voters who were counting on the loan forgiveness will now believe that it was the mean, mean Republicans who took away their $.
And you can bet your a** that is what the Dems will be telling them.
As I said, college students/grads are only 30% of voters. The majority are high school educated, and THEY would have been the ones stuck paying off loans for people earning twice what they are.

Republicans need to drive home that it is THEY who have the working man’s back, and Dems are all about buying votes of the affluent.

The point to consider is that black people weren't permitted to start out on the same line.

And then in my opinion as a Canadian, affirmative action had a lot to do with creating a starting line for all races.

To your comment in a 'literal' sense, that's when the black athletes moved the finish line to their advantage! And that's when the trouble started.

Yes, I know that you didn't mean it literally, but perhaps there's some common ground possible on this topic?

Vote buying (also referred to as electoral clientelism and patronage politics) occurs when a political party or candidate distributes money or resources to a voter in an upcoming election with the expectation that the voter votes for the actor handing out monetary rewards.[1] Vote buying can take various forms such as a monetary exchange, as well as an exchange for necessary goods or services.[2] This practice is often used to incentivise or persuade voters to turn out to elections and vote in a particular way. Although this practice is illegal in many countries such as the United States, Argentina, Mexico, Kenya, Brazil and Nigeria, its prevalence remains worldwide.

Biden went right up to the fence with this

Not sure there can be common ground. Why do I have to pay for someone's college debt?
I pay taxes already for our public schools and have no children, I've done it for years.
Now, students sign an agreement to pay back a loan and then we, the tax payers, are on the hook
again? No, I don't think so, nobody forced them to sign the documents.

Create a whole generation of people who learned they don't need to be responsible for the obligations that they agreed to and were never forced into.

Again, works for me.

Here's the thing. We let homeowners, businesses, etc. declare bankruptcy and weasel out of part or all of their debt. But we've made student loans immune to bankruptcy filings.

And SCOTUS never said the government can't do it. They said Biden isn't a dictator and simply can't wave his hand and forgive it. It has to be passed through Congress and I guarantee Biden knew that from Day One. He lied to get votes from gullible and desperate people.

Or maybe shame Congress into solving the problem.

Sloppy Joe's debt dump on American taxpayers would greatly favor high-income Americans per a Forbes analysis.

Who is promoting socialism for the rich? That would Sloppy Joe and the Dems / Socialists.

Favors high-income Americans: Despite the $125,000 income cap, research shows the White House plan still slightly favors higher-income Americans: Analysis of a $10,000 blanket relief program published Tuesday by the Penn Wharton Budget Model found 69.79% of overall debt forgiveness would go to the top 60% of Americans by income, while individuals who make between $82,400 and $141,096—placing them between the 60th and 80th percentile—would receive the greatest share of overall forgiveness, at 28.1%, though the additional relief for Pell grant recipients should bring further benefit to lower-income borrowers.

In limited cases, he could forgive student loan debt, more broadly he could delay it..but it would take an act of Congress to outright eliminate it....

You are more than welcome to refute a single word I said....

If what Pelosi said was wrong, why did the Supreme court quote her in their decision?

I'm aware of Pelosi's comments, and I agree and am happy with the ruling by the SCOTUS.
My question to you is, are you being serious that you agree with the ruling?

Or more pragmatically-

If young people are spending their 20's and 30's paying off college loans, they aren't buying homes and starting families.

Our society isn't sustainable if we don't have sufficient replacements for the people retiring now.

Enlightened self-interest..
