They never specify in the story how old this kid was, nor did the kid involved (who is now no doubt an adult) actually make a complaint.

All the griping seems to be coming from his parents, and you have to wonder are they upset their kid had sex with a teacher... or are they upset he's gay?

No, they didn't specify his age at all.

Or indicate that the kid himself had any complaint. It's the parents making a big deal after someone told them their kid was gay. But since this started in 2006, even if the kid was 13 then, he'd be at least 20 now. An adult.

Now, I think this teacher SHOULD lose his job. But honestly, these parents seem like they are looking for someone to blame for their homophobia.

Not justifying anything. But the reality is, the system tends to be pretty lenientwith female teachers who have sex with boys than male teachers who have sex with boys or girls.

No, legally, they were both Children.

The proper term is minors, not children. children is a term used when you want to arouse sympathy, even if the "child" was beating the snot out of someone and was well past puberty and almost fully grown.

Sex isnt the issue, trust is the issue, and a teacher in a sexual relation with a student is not only illegal due to statue, it is a violation of trust, trust between both the student and the teacher, and the teacher and the parents.

If the current school board will not remove them, the voters will elect people who will.
If the teacher's union sues, fine. The teachers will eventually be barred and sent elsewhere.
One way or another the ultimate decision should rest with the people who pay the bills.

Home school is the safest option. I know my kids will be safe from paedophiles.

That does not stop pedophiles from preying in other home schools, just like private schools, and public schools.
